We needed HELP…!! Why was this Crazy Feral Cat trying to Love on me one minute & then trying to kill me the next?

We started searching online for answers. Answers to what makes a cat act like this. Why would she just snap? I used to call it going to her "dark place." It would take her hours to come back around. We could not get near her while she was freaking out. Then We found a “Cat behaviorists” they call ..... “The Cat Daddy.”

So many times, I asked my wife to contact him and get us HELP!! We started watching his videos online. We watched every episodes on the Animal Planet channel of "My Cat from Hell." Sometimes we would watch them again. We learned so much from his helping of others with cat issues of all kinds. It is hard to believe that it has been 10 seasons of such a great show with the most Awesome Cat Guy EVER!!

The conclusion we came to, what was messing up Sammi Jo the most, was human error. Yes, we were the problem, cats will be cats. Sammi Jo is pretty much a normal, head strong, alpha female, feral, wild cat. Her parents were outside feral cats. They were just some more “Castaways” from those horrible ex-neighbors of ours. The kind of people that give all cat people a bad name. They had 30+ cats indoors in a mid sized double wide. With only 5 litter boxes that they poorly maintained. Yes it was NASTY! How can people live like that? And those poor cats.

Story of the Ferals / A Picture Story

We do not have any photos of Sammi Jo’s parent cats. But we do believe we had seen them around in 2009-10. They are long gone like most “Outdoor Cats.” The Life span of an outdoor cats is 5 yrs. on average. Compare that to 15 yrs. for an indoor cat. Why would anyone want to “let the cat out?”

Sammi Jo is no more bi-polar or mentally ill than any other wild feral kitten who’s first contact with humans was to have her tummy cut open and a larva pulled out. What did we learn from Jackson Galaxy and much of our own trial and error? Looking back now, it is crystal clear that we were the problem. We changed our behavior to make life easier for Samantha Jo. We accept her for who she is. This is a Cat that you do not just walk up to and reach out to scoop up and pet. You will get nailed nearly every time. She has to come to you, and even then it is, "Proceed with Caution." We have stopped trying to change her. That is never gonna happen. This is Sammi Jo's world, we are all just living in it. Playing by Her rules.

We have rescued, and given a “Furr Ever Home” to a total of 7 more cats since we fell in LOVE with this crazy little fuzz ball named Sammi Jo. Kelly & I have rescued no less than 25 cats in the last 8+ yrs. We will never become like those “Horrible Ex-neighbors.” that thought they were helping all those cats, when the fact was, the conditions were HORRIBLE!

Sometimes it seems like 8 is too many, But 6 of them stay at home, While Sammi Jo & her sidekick Jessi Tux, go with Me, out on the road. We are gone 300+ days out of the year. Our cats get along great. Except for Sammi Jo & Astro. We are still working on that situation. A chapter on Astro & her rescue will come later.
