Zeus comes to live with me.

After a long traumatic day for Zeus getting him here he is finally coming around giving me tons of affection showing me how much he missed me.

It was a nightmare getting Zeus to move in with me. All the hoops I had to jump through to get him here lead to him having an adverse reaction.

First I had to get my doctor to sign a form so I could have Zeus as my therapy animal. Then property management said he needed to have a rabies shot before they would wave the pet deposit. After that he was good to go. No problem right? Or so it would seem...

However Zeus had an adverse reaction to the rabies shot after coming back from the Vet. Like the stress of being in the car and cat carrier wasn't enough! I got him home to the apartment. Before I had time to let him out he started vomiting inside the cat carrier. So I quickly pulled him out of there and started to clean the carrier when he started pooping on the carpet. I was quick to grab a paper towel and catch him before the poop started coming out. By now Zeus was freaking out. I figured it was just the usual stress and anxiety an animal will have when they move from one place to another. However Zeus was getting worse. I started to get his food and water dish ready as well as his new litter box when he started to poop on the carpet again. Only this time I didn't get to him in time. Then as I'm cleaning up the poop on the carpet he jumps up into the window and started peeing all over the ledge. I'm like WTF at this point!? He is covered in feces drooling and panting heavily so at this point I just grabbed him and threw him in the bathtub till I could clean up the mess. By now I'm freaking out because I have never seen a cat get this freaked out over a move. I texted Bridget who was still waiting for me out in the car. I told her what was going on so she came in with the baby. By now I had Zeus laying down in the bathtub. He was breathing so hard with his mouth open drooling hard and panting I thought he was having a heart attack. He pooped some more too while laying down in the bathtub.

Bridget said he must be reacting to the shot. She called the Vet back and the Vet said to bring him back so we did. I cleaned him up as best as I could wrapping him up in a towel before putting him back in the cat carrier. The Vet said Zeus was the 2nd animal in the entire 15 years he had been a Vet that ever had a reaction like this to a rabies shot. The Vet hospitalized Zeus for the rest of the day so they could treat him as well as give him a bath cleaning him up from being covered in feces. By 6pm the Vet was ready to discharge him and he was good to go.

After 24 hours Zeus finally started coming around. He stayed and hid in the bathroom behind the toilet till he was finally ready to come out and explore the new apartment.

I'm so happy to have my Zeus back in my life again. YAY!!! In fact, Zeus has been so happy to see me he has clawed up my neck, shoulders, and chest from all the needling he has been doing to me in the last 24 hours HA HA.
