Cartoon Culture of Oppression - Cartoon Detox Western Culture

in #cartoonculture8 years ago

Sociopath politicians. Political pundit tail-tuckers spouting off tired rhetoric. Are we mesmorized!? In a dream like state from technology. Becoming passive observers where the only sense of power one can have is to be a successful consumer!? The televison adds insult human intelligence and politics has turned into a very corny reality t.v. show. Cartoon to the core! Is that our fate and the meaning of existence!?

We live with psychic debt - a wound to the soul. We live in a society where it feels like you get punished for being poor. Saw the Documentary The 13th Amendment about how African Americans make up 40% of the prison population in the U.S. and how it is still very much a slave state. Very excellent well done documentary I highly suggest.

Cultural illiteracy is the problem of our age so it's important to know the history to understand current social conditions. The modern prisons turn the prison population into a workforce of slavery. It's the prison industrial complex - the overlapping of governments and industry.

In Canada the incarceration rate for Aboriginal adults is 10 times higher than non-Aboriginal adults. There is a whole history behind oppression. The struggle continues. There is the current oppression against land defenders at The Dakota Access Pipeline in the U.S. that mainstream media is not covering. Mining companies working in canada continue to get a slap on the wrist when it comes to absolute disasters when tailings ponds breach.

The main population seems to be in an automation bias feedback loop. They believe what they read, follow the status quo, and are gollied by gizmos. Now how to jolt them out of it!? Need something to add to the collective narrative to rival the rhetoric put forth by the military industrial complex. Sour the stigmas and passivity - add some cognitive dissonance to the table!

I can imagine the masses going to doing real cultural research to figure what makes it tick. To understand their own cultural bias. Everyone will become culturally literate so the argument made by racist politicians demonizing the other wont work. I don't have all the answers yet but I know the direction. Put an end to the ecocide and the genocide and celebrate life! Take away their argumentative tools. It will take smart language and the de-hyping of current views of life. Time to hit the notes and get people under 30 to read books! Some kind of cultural stimulation that gets people to take an interest in life. Ideas!?

Sort:

This was pretty good. Have you ever read “Society of the Spectacle” by Guy Debord? Some of the stuff you had to say reminds me of the Situationists.

Haven't heard of it! Thanks for mentioning it. I will check it out. Situationists eh? sounds good!

I find it interesting how you show cartoons of Trump blowing his head off, yet the Clintons set the prison slavery system up, back when Bill was POTUS with mandatory enhanced sentences, and such other policies. I think we all have short memories as well. Don't you?

They are all crooked. Just trying to flesh out the cartooney vibe. The whole thing needs to be taken down

I was not trying to criticize you. Rather, just pointing out the obvious, in regard to the state of things today. I try to stay neutral in politics, is what I am saying. Especially, when it seems to have entered fantasy-land, if you know what I am saying. So many folks overlook the faults of one side, and complain about the faults of the other side. I am neither side--rather, somewhere way sideways of either side. The cartoon Imagery is fantastic, though. If that is something that you are experimenting with, you will do well, in my opinion--you are on the right track.
