Reviewing the Porsche Boxster ~ Smarter Car Reviews

The Porsche Boxster is the epitome of the Boxter class and a car it really sets the bar high. You really can’t quite get something as sleek and sharp looks together with its powerful engine and perfectly engineered handling, you’d be lying if you said you didn’t enjoy a drive in this little number. You’ll also be happy to know that the fabric roof is easy to stow and put up so you can really get that whole wind in your hair experience.

The Car

The entry level Boxster comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, CD system with a seven-inch touchscreen and air-conditioning. Moving up a grade will get you extra bi-xenon headlights and bigger wheels in the case of the Boxster S, and the GTS gets you a bodykit, a better interior and suspension and the Sport Chrono Package. The top of the line Spyder gets you a different bodykit, bucket seats in carbon-fiber, rear buttresses and sports suspension but doing away with the air conditioning and radio system.

The Drive

Given that it’s a Porsche, you won’t have to worry too much about how this car drives. The steering is on point, the throttle responds right off the bat and you’ll get to 100 km/h in about 6 seconds. The engines sound great, especially when you’re on open road with the roof down, and with the roof up, you’ll be surprised at how well the noise is blocked out so you can truly enjoy your drive wherever you are. The car is also grippy and perfect on corners so you really won’t have to worry about whatever terrain you take on.

We found that you might find the lower speeds a bit more due to the firmer suspensions on the roadster but the suspension options on the trim levels higher than the standard as well as the optional chassis upgrades can give you a more “sports” experience but of course at the cost of feeling more of the little bumps on the road.

The Interior

The Porsche interior is comfortable and it’s spacious enough for the driver and with enough adjustment options to get into the perfect driving spot no matter your shape or size. The cabin is dotted with a nice amount of storage bins and the glove compartment is a decent size too. We love the cupholders that will hold your java in the mornings when you take this roadster to work.

There are no rear seats in this car though, so it’s really meant for driving enjoyment, but there is a fair amount of storage if you need to take the car on a longer trip – there’s 150 litres in the front and 130 litres in the back which you could fit a few overnight bags in if you needed to.

Overall

The Boxster is a lovely little roadster with excellent specs and feels on the road. It’s comfortable to even just sit in if not drive around.
