#33 One Day, One Car
Today here is a first German 2 seats sport car which is on the market since 2007.
The car? The AUDI R8
The manufacturer didn't expect such a success of this model in Europe and had to invest an additional $28 million to increase its production (from 8 to a maximum 29 cars per day).
Before the R8 leaves the production line, there are 95 lasers and 70 specialists controlling the quality of every piece of the car.
Did you know?
In the movie The Iron Man, Tony Stark was driving an Audi R8. For one scene they had to crash two R8 due to its strong Space Frame body built from 77% of aluminum profiles.

Great car, Audi wants to compete with the 911 and uses the name of the Le Mans race car... Obviously, red one :-)
The issue with manufacturers that want to compete with the 911 is that in the absolute majority, it is just a PR move announcement. Because they want to achieve that on new cars (pretty recent even if 10 years old already) while the 911 base has been fine-tuned for decades and Porsche is nearing perfection every time they release a model. They are so consistent it is insane.
911 is the Perfect car... There is a great exhibit soon at the Petersen (Los Angeles) about the Porsche Effect, there'll some great Porsche models like Porsche Type 64 60K10, Steve McQueen's black on black 356 Speedster, 1968 Porsche 911 S Targa... (somes photos on my steem account).
Yeah there are no Porsche as safety or race control cars. Only Audi =D and they test them as prototypes... the R8 on the picture has a prototype gearbox... they try to brake it but didn't achieve yet... loool
