1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale
This saturday, April 7, this vintage Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale is heading to the auction block through RM Sotheby's for about $100,000. Last month, a 1964 model was sold for $132,000 by Gooding & Company.
History of the Giulia Sprint Speciale
The Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale is unlike any other sports car produced between 1959 and 1966. Designed by Franco Scaglione, Italian automobile coachwork designer from Bertone, who also had penned the Alfa Romeo BAT (3 cars were built: the BAT 5 in 1953, the BAT 7 in 1954, and the BAT 9 in 1955).
The Sprint Speciale remained essentially unchanged throughout production (only 1,366 coachbuilt sprint speciales), with later-series cars benefiting from the larger 1600 engine, front disc brakes, and suspension improvements.
Technical Specification
The Giulia Sprint Speciale has an 1,600-cc twin-cam four-cylinder engine deleviring 112 hp with five-speed manual transmission.
This model was fully restored example with great yellow cream leather interior.
