Another great lot during the Arizona Sale in January 2019, RM Sotheby's will auction this stunning 1964 Porsche 356 SC GT Outlaw with a 912 based engine for about $US 200,000. A beautiful 356 SC GT tribute built by the Schlabaugh Brothers...

History of the Porsche 356

The Porsche 356 was introduced in 1948 with aluminium body powered by VW engine D (1,100 cc air cooled flat four delivering 46 hp). But the model evolved, the Type B was produced from 1960 to 1963 with a new front, a rear sheet metal new headlamps and a front vent. In 1964, the Type C was introduced with a more powerful engine and disc brakes.

This model is named Outlaw because it was altered with some customizations. This movement began in California several decades ago by Porsche's passionnate like Gary Emory with tribute to iconic cars impossible to have. For this Porsche 356, it was a tribute to the Porsche SC GT, only 6 models built, all sold in US. It was built on the base of 1964 356 SC by Schlabaugh Brothers (Wellman, Iowa) in 2 years (late-356 sunroof clip, rear exhaust, Plexigas windows with GT Carrera-type pull up straps, front trunk with oversize fuel tank...).

Specification

This Outlaw is powered by 1,833 cc 912 based air-cooled flat-four engine modified by Peter McCurdy, sport Expert. The body was paint in green called Auratium.
