RE: We Are All Capitalists

in #capitalism7 years ago

This is where we see the danger of letting ideologues take control of our educational system -- words cease to have common meanings, and much disagreement comes from simply having different definitions for things.

Capitalism simply means economic freedom. But our society has allowed it to be redefined as "Greed." Thus when people say Capitalism is evil, what they really mean is Greed is evil. Which no one would disagree with.

If you redefine Capitalism as freedom, a few people would argue that economic freedom is bad, but those are the same group of Progressives who believe that human nature is bad, and that left to their own devices, society will implode because absent the external control of government, humans will tear their own society apart.

Once you realize this, that Progressivism springs from a very dark place, a place of ultimate disillusion and disappointment in what humanity creates when they are allowed to voluntarily cooperate versus being told what to do by some authority, then the whole Progressive platform starts to make sense.

Interesting that those who supposedly are the "idealistic" political force are actually coming from a perspective of deep distrust of humanity, while those who are supposedly the "callous, uncaring" political force (Conservatives) are coming from a perspective of faith and trust in human nature.

As always, the world is actually the opposite from what it appears to be on the surface.
