Strain Review: Purple Platinum, Trust Your Sense of Smell.

in #cannabis7 years ago (edited)

This colourful beauty was described to me by a friend at Legacy 420 (in Tyendinaga, Mohawk Territory in eastern Ontario, Canada) as one, exceptionally strong indica that I simply must try.

This recommendation was given to me after they heard me fawning over another strain, that I just love called Black Diamond.

I had spotted Black Diamond on their menu board and instantly went to its sample jar and in a decidedly unladylike manner, I immediately buried my nose in the jar to inhale its beloved terpene profile.

I think I said something like "mmmmh, Black Diamond, I can't live without you."

This was met by a comment from a very wise sage of a man who politely commented to me, "Well, Rebecca I understand that you have a very discerning nose and might I recommend that you at least smell this, while your here?"

"It's the strongest indica that we have right now and it's for seasoned canna-seurs. I think that if you like our Black Diamond, you'll really appreciate and enjoy Purple Platinum."

(I actually really liked this man the moment that I met him a few months ago....and it wasn't because he offered me a toke off of the biggest fattie that I'd ever seen. I just liked his energy. If I had to guess, I'd say that he's in his late forties and he has the most gorgeous long silver hair...like really long, down to his waist long. He's honest and quietly confident.)

I said, "Oh yeah?" "Let me give it a go."

I promptly stuck my nose in Purple Platinum's sample jar and inhaled as deeply as I could.

I was immediately hit with intense pine, then sweet fruit and then a musky, earthy smell.

I couldn't get my money out of my purse fast enough. I bought 3.5 grams.

Visually this flower is stunning. Orange calyxes, both purple and green leaves and absolutely loaded with milky crystals.

Once I got it home, I tried to do a little research and found conflicting information. Some reports suggested it was a true indica while others suggested it was a hybrid with indica being 80% dominant. I read that the parents might include Purple Kush, Purple Urkle and OG Kush.

One common denominator among all the reviews and reports was that the strain was an outstanding strain to treat both muscle spasms and insomnia, but it was strong. So strong, that only experienced cannabis users should try it. (It might as well have been labelled with my name on it, I thought.)

I broke up a small bud in my Santa Cruz grinder.

Then, I loaded my Boundless CF Vapourizer.

It was delicious! I could immediately taste pine and sweet fruit with just a hint of musky earth.

On 6 inhalations, it produced a fairly strong body stone, yet my head felt surprisingly clear and I slept very deeply.

I would highly recommend this strain to anyone who needs help to relax their muscles and to sleep.

It over-delivers on both counts. It easily relaxed my tight muscles and I equally appreciated its sedative capabilities.

I regret that I didn't buy more of this glorious flower.

I welcome your comments and I invite you to follow me on my journey.

It looks an amazing strain

I love the intensity of the purple in this flower. Beautiful all the way round, but I did find that it became harsher as I vaped, quicker than other strains. Kept my temperature set on low. Interesting outcome, I thought. :)

I agree on that, purple are always a special flavour, but i love it

Looks delicious!
Great review!
Thanks for sharing and Steem on :)

Thank you very much @jcsteem!

Really does look beautiful and rich! My fav strain I've had is an indica called "Betty Page", but I'm certainly no canna-seur given that I only partake a few times a year. If I ever come across "Black Diamond" I'll get some and give it a try! Do you have growers in Canada that produce chemical-free or Organically grown? Here in Oregon there is a lot of talk about the chemicals used in growing that are quite harmful apparently.

Unfortunately, this is an escalating problem in Canada too @natureofbeing.
Cool, I'll add Betty Page to my list of strains to watch out for.
I like indicas a lot. ;)

For me Betty Page isn't the relaxing sort of experience. It feels more like something is freed up and I have a blissful and abundant energy with which to love life more fully. Of course each strain affects each of us uniquely but I thought I'd mention this so you know it may not be the best option for promoting sleep.

Thanks so much @natureofbeing! Not to worry. I, (like many) use different strains for different things. Betty Page sounds like a great day-time strain that really gets your creativity flowing in a very happy way. I bet you can accomplish a lot in a short period of time with its help. LOL! I've never seen it up here, but I will add it to my list and give it a try if I find it. :)

Looking awesome !

Like and followed. Purple colors always taste sooooo good. Hope you enjoyed it as much as it looks like it should be enjoyed. im new here and just posted my first review of Rasberry Kush. Like and follow if you would like, I will be posting more. And there is never enough weedporn!

Lol I couldn't agree more @drpuffnstuff! Oh Raspberry Kush sounds delicious too! I have followed you as well. Welcome to Steemit.

Sounds like a nice strain. Wish to try it some day. But it's not possible to get it in germany.

I think it will be soon @thecoach! In 5 years time I think you'll see it. Germany has a medical cannabis program and I think that your country is watching to see what Canada does on our recreational side. :)

Very nice review, thanks for taking the time to share it.
