Garden # 2 Is Thriving: 12 plants, 6 different strains, Beginning of Vegetative Stage.
I thought you might enjoy a little "look-see" at how my second cannabis garden is growing. I've made some changes based on what I have learned so far.
First of all, my grow room is a little bigger for round #2. Its foot-print is now 5 feet deep by 6 feet wide and it's currently home to 12 plants.
The strains that I am growing in this particular garden are:
- Apollo 13 (Sativa dominant hybrid good for relaxation and happiness.)
- Bubba Kush (Indica, a strong muscle relaxant and sedative.)
- Carmel Candy Kush (Indica dominat hybrid, good for chronic pain.)
- Tangie (Sativia, good for day-time use, let's you keep a clear head while it manages inflammation.)
- The tall Jamaican (Strain unknown, but I suspect it's a Haze based on how happy and relaxed it makes me feel.)
- The Short Jamaican (Strain also unknown but I suspect it's an Indica dominant hybrid because it's already a little shorter, stubbier and bushier.)
There are 5 differences in this grow compared to my first.
First was the addition of a little more growing space. I also have changed how my grow light is hanging. I have suspended it from chains and hooks so that I can adjust the height of the light easier to accommodate the needs of the plants as they grow. I'm not going to make these baby queens stretch so much for the light. ;)
I modified my floor fan and mounted it so that it isn't taking up precious floor space where a plant could be.
I've switch nutrient lines and am trying out an organic feeding system that is called Canna. In that system, I am using their Terra line.
Lastly, I have switched from plastic pots to Root Pouches, which are working fantastically.
Here's what a Root Pouch looks like:
I purchase their 3 gallon size with handles. More information about these pouches can be found here: https://rootpouch.com/products/boxer_Line
These pouches are easier to move around and are great for letting your plants' roots breathe and not grow in a circle. Allegedly they hold heat better in the winter and keep the plants cooler in the summer. They are made from recycled plastic bottles and can be washed and re-used.
We shall see, but so far, so good. All the plants seem to be thriving at the moment.
I welcome your comments and I invite you to follow me on my journey...we will be growing a few plants. My personal growing license is set by my country's government (which is Canada) and is based on an 8 gram a day medical prescription. This lets me grow up to 40 plants.

I just love all the different strains that you have and the names even sound delicious! I'm so envious that you will get to experiment with all of the greatness that these plants will produce. I have to be honest, I'm really jealous of you and 327 but at least while I'm eagerly waiting for my state to legalize this magnificant plant, you can be researching the different strains so you will know which ones will work best for new patients like me! Oh how I can't wait for that wonderful day when I can legally sit on my front porch and light up a bowl and chill, listening to Cypress Hill.
That is the best feeling in the world my friend...to be free and not have to look over your shoulder or be persecuted for what you decide to "put" in your own body. That's just it. I'll have all this figured out and will be able to help others do exactly the same thing if/when they want to. ;)
@rebeccaryan,
Very nice crop you have started there. It has been several years since I have grown any plants but back when I did I used self watering containers.
The container walls held enough water for about 2 weeks of soil moisture and when used with liquid fertilizer in the water, the growth was outstanding.
Since you travel a lot you may want to look into something like those containers. Lighting is easy with timers but consistent soil moisture is an important key to healthy plants.
Until next time,
@sultnpapper
Thank you so much for sharing this information @sultnpapper!
I have been thinking about some type of self-watering system that can also be easily set up. This will likely be my next addition to my little garden. I agree keeping the moisture levels correct can be a challenge when traveling.
Another trick I used that really increased plant growth was charging the soil using a 6 volt battery charger , 4 large steel nails, and some wire.
Essentially what it did was created a small electromagnetic field in the soil , that stimulated both root growth and foliage . I cycled it 12 hours charged , 12 hours uncharged.
Until next time,
@sultnpapper

I like what you have shown to us. You have made the adjustments based on your past experience. Experience is always a good teacher.
That is how we learn.
I know you will be showing us how the plants are growing over the coming weeks/months.
It will be interesting to all of us that will be following the growing progress.
I like the "root pouches" too. To me. That is much better than other materials.
You are going to be busy. Maybe too busy over the next two or three weeks.
But, I know you. You will not only survive. You will also thrive.
That's our girl. One of a kind.
Francis
nice set up. I wish...
Did you do any research about 12/12 dark - light system? :D
12/12 is an interesting concept, for sure.
Right now, I think we've got the room we need to let these girls go into vegetative but it may be something to try in the future if I want to push the limits of my space. :)

Great post @anarchysalis! Thanks for sharing it my friend. :)
Of course, thanks for checking it out!
Looking good and Theyre gonna need some bigger pot soon! trust me, the bigger the pot, the bigger they will get! you will still need those rot bags to keep vegging cloning but u should move them into big pots soon and let them get HUGE
Hi @ackza!
Thanks for weighing in. I was growing in 10 gallon pots which were really heavy to move around. When I deconstructed them after the first grow, I found the root balls stayed tight...even in the big pots.
These bags are 3 gallon, so I'm going to try them ( more or less as an experiment) to see what will happen.
I would like to have at least one Apollo 13, but I cant, here in Portugal you can get arrested for cultivating cannabis. In Portugal, it's ok if you are an alcoholic, a pill-addicted... But growing cannabis it's a crime, so stupid.
I don't understand this at all. I've been reading articles like this: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/portugal-decriminalised-drugs-14-years-ago-and-now-hardly-anyone-dies-from-overdosing-10301780.html
about Portugal's very liberal approach to decriminalizing the use of all drugs including cannabis. Is it that you can use cannabis without persecution but you can't grow it yourself without being charged?
Portugal his one of the first countries to decriminalize drugs, you can have with you about 25 grams of cannabis and is not a crime, more than that it can be considered drug traffic. The cultivation is considered drug traffic, it's illegal. If you are a drug consumer in Portugal, you are not a criminal, you are only a drug addict. For every drug (cocaine, heroin, cannabis..) you have a limit that you can have with you, if you pass the limit, it can be considered drug traffic and you can go to jail.
Those are some fine looking ladies.
Keep on crafting and spreading these vibes!
I just love Cannabis, that's what I do.
Peace, Love, Gratitude.
Thank you @spellmaker!
nice post, well you are doing great work by putting your baby plants in pouches it surely gives nice atmosphere to baby plants to grow and i love the way you care your plants after all they are also a living things and they also produce oxygen which is vital for humans, keep up your good work, stay blessed and awesome, thanks for sharing
