The Cannabis Conundrum - Breaking Laws To Grow Legally

Breaking the Law to Grow LEGAL Cannabis

Have you ever wondered how legal cannabis growers start growing cannabis? Even in states where cannabis is legalized and growing it is protecting under state law, growers have to either get seeds, clones, or plants somehow. Many growers decline to comment on how they get seeds or plants in general. Ever wonder why?

Want To Grow Legal Cannabis? First, You Have To Commit A Felony!

It is a felony to obtain seeds, as well as transporting cannabis plants and clones. So how can anyone actually grow "lawfully" when the laws create riddles?

The first step in growing state-sanctioned legal marijuana is to break the law, a paradox that has regulators nationwide looking the other way while growers keep mum about how they start their businesses.

If Lawmakers Nationwide Can Turn A Blind Eye - It's Time To CHANGE THE LAW!

I'd love to hear what my fellow Steemians have to say!

It's such a strange debate. It really is difficult to outlaw naturally occurring plant life. I think more research needs to be done on the true long term affects and a proper dosing method needs to be found so that those who are greatly undereducated about its affects (mostly younger users) can act more safely

Yes, there is so much to learn about long term use. However, there are also very well documented longitudinal studies spanning 20 years or more on daily cannabis users. I feel that educating society (especially youth), as you suggested, on the dosage and long-term affects will certainly help people act in a safer way.

I also believe more studies should be done on method of consumption e.g. Vaporization vs. Combustion and methods of consumption like edibles - what dietary pros & cons are there?
Study: Vaporization Offers Attractive Alternative to Smoked Cannabis (via NORML)

I agree. I think when you take something like alcohol, you are able to measure the amount (volume) but also the percentage of alcohol in each type of drink. With cannabis it seems there is so much variation in the THC concentration in each strain that I think it's difficult for people to truly dose in a consistent way

Exactly. It is hard to measure THC & CBD content in cannabis without proper equipment, but that is already changing. There will be no need for labs because on-site testing is already being developed. I believe there will be much more information available to the consumer once it becomes a 'national' product for consumption.

For example, a google search shows a company marketing a handheld/portable device that measures potency and more. Portable Cannabis Potency and Chemical Analyzer

The good news is: science and technology are going to enhance our understanding of cannabis and outshine the propaganda that has been attached for decades.

That's encouraging to hear. I'm glad they are making strides to educate and create a safer experience for people. I appreciate that you are taking the time to become highly educated and to educate others on the subject

This just proves the insanity of making a plant illegal in the first place. Politicians now see the massive potential for profit, so they have had their minds magically changed for the better.

I'm in Virginia. The laws here are absolutely absurd. You can get a life sentence for a PLANT! It is beyond stupid and hard to believe. The police in my area though, for the most part, completely ignore pot.

They shouldn't have to ignore it though. It shouldn't be illegal in the first place!

Precisely my thoughts, @finnian, "insanity". It creates a burden that I call "Selective Policing". Life in jail for a plant. A plant!

In Maryland, I know police from several counties, state troopers, and detectives - many of them 'actively choose' to ignore cannabis, unless it is accompanied by an additional (criminal) element. Maryland cites cannabis possession similar to a speeding ticket - Pay a $100 fine and there is no court or jail. It's a misdemeanor whether you have 1 gram or 49.9 pounds, if found to be for individual use and not resale. That is HUGE spectrum..lol

Many officers that I have chat with on this subject say that they prefer to not even write citations unless it is "necessary". This is selective policing. Why have a law that is "selectively" enforced? If some police do not see a reason to enforce a law, doesn't that mean the law is nothing more than a theory? It's insane.

No victim, no crime. ;-)

This could be a future lawmaker

I love how the light turned on for a second. Spark of genius? I think not.

Haha best part! Hit so hard the oven had a thought
