(MTL) Metal is going to partner with over 100 cannabis merchants in California - Weed is legalized in CA as of today!
If you haven't heard of Metal, you may want to check it out, as they are expected to announce that they are partnering with 100s of cannabis merchants in California, now that the state has legalized the sale of marijuana.
Keep in mind that it is still federally illegal to sell or possess marijuana, which leaves no option for these new merchants to accept credit cards (banks refuse to incur the risk and won't process the transactions). However, seeing as Metal is designed to support payments for small businesses, there is a big opportunity for a real-world application for this crypto-currency and payment platform.
There is no official announcement for this yet. This is an opinion piece, largely based on chatter in the crypto community.
