How Cannabis Prohibition Destroyed My Family
(And made me who I am.)
This post has actually been brewing for years, awaiting the completion of the story, and the right timing. Thanks to the blockchain, it will live (relatively) forever. It was formed into video format, and hosted on YouTube so that it has more permanency.
This mini-documentary is an intimate look at how the prohibition of a safe medicinal and recreational plant has torn one strong Canadian family to pieces.
It contains images and stories from my life during a time of soaring highs and crushing lows. The public frenzy around cannabis drove my family to do shocking things, resulting in years of suffering and the end of many lifelong relationships.
You'll also see footage taken during that time which couldn't be published until today.
Despite the intimate nature of some of the stories, I'm happy to let my experiences be revealed, if doing so might help anyone's healing. Please share.
Let's do our part to end the prohibition and stigmatization of cannabis!

Thank you for making this video. It's partial therapy for the trauma we began to experience and are still facing. I forgive your brother because he was just a victim of your other family's manipulation. They knowingly allowed his addiction to alcohol and worse because it benefited their plan. I said some mean things to him once because I honestly believed he was actively killing us, all for treats. I take it back now, as long as I am safe from him (no offence anymore).
But I don't forgive the rest of your family for the blackmail and systematic abuse they put us through, especially when we cried out for help - they were even more abusive. I feel like they took years off our life not just for the stress they caused us at the time, but also for the fallout that continues to haunt us like your PTSD, nightmares, and mystery neurological illness that you're still not getting the therapy for.
Dammitol... I am so sorry for the rift in your family. I hope some day they come around. Glad you guys are getting on your feet. Much love to you and MediKatie.

Our past is very important to never forget, but our future is even more important. Stay positive and keep striving to be a better you. I know we are just Steem friends, but who is to say a Steem friend is not less then a real life friend? But steemit is real to me.
