a peek inside Vancouver's cannactivism scenesteemCreated with Sketch.

As activists, @MediKatie and I are very lucky to know some amazing people, see some amazing things, and be part of amazing actions. Vancouver is the undisputed capital of cannabis activism in Canada, and perhaps the world. We're blessed to be able to be part of that.

The cause

Jerry Martin ("the King of Compassion"), a dispensary owner from Saskatchewan, is challenging the government of Canada on behalf of cannabis patients and their suppliers. The case aims to set legal precedent.

March 10th 2018 at Karuna Dispensary & Lounge, Vancouver.... An auction of various extremely illegal and outstanding cannabis products were up for grabs.

Karuna is a classy upscale joint in a nice part of town. MediKatie and I have been patients there since they opened in 2015. We chose her name there! We started projects there. It's got a lot of memories, so it was great to be back and see they're still fighting the good fight!

Just about every except the Emerys showed up. The air was thick with anticipation, pot smoke, and dabs.

Some really valuable and unique items were auctioned off, to raise money for this "charter challenge" in the Supreme Court. Everybody had a blast!

There will be more events like this one soon, as it's going to take a lot of money to fight the Canadian government in court, but this is a fight worth having!

History in the making.

I also took some video and audio, which I'll share here tomorrow.
Can you see this stuff anywhere else?

Thank you Steemit for not censoring this important activism, as FB and other sites have for years!!
And thank you to our supporters.

Good times! I hope they raise lots of funds for their Supreme Court challenge and set precedence. Cannabis Farmers Markets and dispensaries save lives and prohibition kills!

Taking action it's so much better than sitting at home watching the news! You guys are amazing activists keep up the news!

This is a great batch of photos, @drutter! We notice @MediKatie looks happy and relaxed, which is good, considering her recent ordeal with police!
The focus on patients is beautiful. Not that all who enjoy and benefit from cannabis aren't important, but the patients who need it to sleep, or to be comfortable, or to stay alive, are the most vulnerable users and need special focus!
Looking forward to those video clips you got.

Right? A right not exercised is a right soon lost.

Hempalicious photos!! Upvoted.

We made it to Vansterdam back right before the plucked Mark off the street. I don't think I could have made my husband happier had I taken him to Vegas and said "Lets go hooker shopping!" We walk in, there is the well endowed beautiful young lady in the bikini top. She pulls open a drawer, and she um... plops the endowment on the tray top, next to the various offerings of nuggets. Mind you, we had NEVER, ever been anywhere like this, I think it was legal in California by then but we had not been there. My husband is a doll, just the most amazing man ever, but I got no boobs. And I never pulled open a drawer full of nuggets and said "What are interested in?" He was a perfect gentleman, but when I said "Well, that made the whole trip worth it, eh?" he did not try to deny it was a pretty special moment... LOL!

Hahahaha!!! Plops the endowment on the tray! : D
Your husband sounds great. I would probably have been laughing and joking.

That’s tight! Glad to know you here on steem that’s forsure! You guys are fighting the good fight. What’s going in Canada is such a sign of why you don’t want big business taking over the operation. I’m over here supporting you by saying fuck you to all those bastards!

Thanks so much for saying that! We don't get a lot of pats on the back so gotta take them when we can. : )
You're right, Canada is NOT the legalization model anyone else should follow. We're headed to a very controlled and fascist situation here. Very profit-focused, not at all product focused. The existing industry and culture isn't going to mix well with this monopoly enforced by violence.

I think the medical laws where or are depending on where your at are perfect. People still thinking it should be 100% legalized need to know about this issue and really need to think about it before they vote. Just look how alcohol is controlled by billion dollar companies. Yes there is an insurgency going on with craft brews but those big companies still control 90%
