Jamaican Scientist On A Quest To Bring Back Bob Marley Strain Which Disappeared Decades Ago

in #cannabis5 years ago

Jamaican officials have been looking to strengthen their cannabis market on the island, noting that they are aware the country has a unique appeal with the cannabis community and they want to capitalize on that.

They have insisted that while they are concerned for safety, they want to try and reduce unnecessary bureaucracy and make it as easy as possible for someone to get involved in the legal cannabis market.

Cannabis has been decriminalized to an extent in the region, and there are ways for people to obtain access to cannabis in the region for medicinal purposes, including tourists.

It's expected that in years to come that Jamaica could become a thriving community for cannabis smokers even more than it has already been known to be, with expected coming changes to legalization. It might be one of the countries that makes the move next to legalize.

Looking To Bring The Best

One Jamaican scientist from the region is looking to bring back a legendary strain that disappeared decades ago, once known to have been smoked regularly by Bob Marley.

That doctor, Dr. Machal Emanuel, is trying to bring back the strain which might eventually help to bring Jamaica back to the forefront of cannabis tourism. He has been searching all over the Caribbean for the lost strain, looking for the original landrace seeds.

Cannabis is deeply embedded within Jamaican culture, it's an identity of Rastarfarian people, and they deserve the right to consume, trade, or grow cannabis, to embrace that market in a peaceful way and contribute to the success of their communities.

There are a variety of outspoken supporters of the cannabis industry in Jamaica and they've admitted that authorities have long persecuted the sacramental right of people in Jamaica to consume the plant. They aren't looking to roll over and take a violation of those rights lightly.
