STEEMIT AND PORN VIRGIN - My First Week as a Camgirl

in #camming7 years ago (edited)

A few weeks ago, I was introduced to the idea of being a cam model. I had recently moved across the country after prematurely leaving the shittiest summer job I've ever had. The upsides, however, were the money I made (which made it possible for me to leave my dead-end town and start living my actual life), and a very close friend I made (who has graciously been helping me throughout this entire ordeal). We bonded quickly over the summer, sharing a hatred of wage-slavery and completely opposite 14-hour shifts from each other. My friend left the job around early August, and we stayed in touch until I left a couple weeks later. Fast-forward to August 30th and there I was, on the other side of the country with my entire life packed into three suitcases and the only person I know in the state by my side.

After our shared personal hell, neither of us had any interest in getting a part-time, minimum wage job and wasting our time that was obviously better spent literally anywhere else. He and I are both very open-minded and sexual people, so I wasn't too surprised when he suggested I try my luck at camming. I hadn't ever considered the idea, mostly because every ad I had ever seen for something like that seemed like a credit card scam run by bots playing recordings of women who weren't at all part of the scenario. But as I looked into it, I found a really interesting community and, ultimately, my next career path.

Once I found out that the camming world wasn't just automated money-grabbing schemes, I became enthralled. I spent days researching different streaming sites, reading other girls' stories, and trying to learn everything I needed to know for my first show. Suffice it to say, I was a little bit of a disaster. I had never streamed any sort of video, much less anything that would include taking my clothes off and playing with myself for an unknown group of strangers online! I tried to make casual conversation, apologizing every 20 seconds for my on-camera ineptitude. But despite my lack of grace or nudity, I ended the night earlier than I had anticipated, mostly because my cheeks hurt so much from smiling! Every single person I interacted with that night was so nice and helpful and understanding, I could barely believe it. Who knew that a group of grown men watching a 19 year old girl get naked on camera would be so nice!

Over the couple hours I was online, I lost track of how many people came through to watch me. The title of my stream included something along the lines of "First Show Ever!!!", which most definitely brought in a lot of traffic. Luckily, none of it was negative, which I had been steeling myself for. I made a little over $3 in tips in two hours, and so much more in verbal tips to help me get better on camera. The next two nights were very similar: I put something regarding this being one of my first shows in the title, and so many more people than I had anticipated kept coming through my room. I wasn't making $100 every night or anything (hell, a week in and I was happy to make $50 altogether!), but I was having so much fun sitting in bed and talking to people who were already on their way to being regulars.

After the third show, the whole "amateur camgirl!! first show!" thing kind of wore off. My third show still felt like it warranted that sort of clickbait, but after that it lost its ring. Despite that, I continued to make somewhat steady tips. I had already gotten a couple regulars (some "grays" who don't have any tokens to tip with, but I don't mind much because they're fun to talk to), and even made a friend who bought me a Lovense brand vibrator that will connect to my stream and vibrate every time someone tips me! This toy itself is a HUGE investment, and I'm still shocked that anyone would be so nice as to spend over $100 on a new girl like that.

I quickly learned that the site I use, Stripchat, slows down immensely during the weekend. At first, I was concerned that my amateur novelty had worn off and nobody was interested in me anymore. Luckily, by this time, I had made a "friend" who was able to tell me that yes, this was normal for weekends and yes, plenty of other models were experiencing really low traffic too. After a couple borderline-awkward streams, last night picked right back up and I had my second most successful night yet (my most successful night being the only one so far involving a cumshow).

I didn't hear about Steemit until after I started camming. The same friend introduced me to both, and I think it might be a really fun idea to document and blog about my journey as a cam model. It seems like anything and everything is talked about here, so I figure I might give this a shot. Most of my posts from now on, if they are this long, will only focus on that day (or the previous day depending on when I do the blog) in a lot more detail. This is more of a get to know me/what to expect/my condensed experience so far piece. I'd love to hear what everyone thinks of this idea! I'm honestly just trying to broaden my horizons not only online but as a person in general as well. I'll be doing my best to post at least once a day, whether it's about the cam session itself or everything else in my life that's now related to camming.

Welcome to Steemit, @valvox! I'm not terribly familiar with the way the camgirl world works, but it seems like it's a natural tie-in for Steemit. Both platforms reward quality content, after all. Have fun, enjoy yourself, and enjoy being an entrepreneur in a second area. Seems Steemit brings out the creative spirit in all of us. Best of luck to you. :)
