Steps

1.) I made a rough sketch of the letter I made sure I got the right shape. Something that has flared and a bit convoluted parts.

2.) Applied a thin layer of colors to see if they would work fine together and made adjustment on the brush density

3.) Slowly added finer details like scales and fins both for the green and red areas of the letter

4.) Finished all the line details. Added little shadows and highlights all around.

The last part is choosing a background color. This is the most challenging part why? My color palette is on the pale muted side so almost all the colors I chose would either flood the whole image or blend with it. Black does not even show the small details. So I combined black and red and to give some contrast I used the highlighting brush
