Byteball Airdrop Troubleshooting & Tips For New Users For Convenience and Enhanced Privacy
It has been 5 days since I first posted bout the Byteball airdrop and I promised to do a follow up. I couldn't do the follow up because I only completed the STEEM Attestation today due to technical difficulties which I mentioned in this post. Now I have finally gotten my free crypto and I'm willing to offer my insights on the process.
My Wallet
50% of your reward is going to be locked in a smart contract. Below is a list of how much you are going to get based on your STEEM reputation. Please note that each set of 9 increments of reputation is 10 times harder than the previous 9 to achieve. Eg: Going from 34 to 43 is the equivalent of going from 25 to 34 for 10 times. Going from 43 to 52 is the equivalent of going from 25 to 34 for 100 times.
Steem reputation above 30: you get a $10 reward
Steem reputation above 40: you get a $20 reward
Steem reputation above 50: you get a $40 reward
Steem reputation above 60: you get a $80 reward
Steem reputation above 70: you get a $160 reward
There are many ways to earn free crypto on using the Byteball wallet. Many of them have been around for a while. So there really isn't too much of a rush to get your rewards. The DAG is getting loaded with transactions and the devs faced some trouble too.
Tips To Get It Working
When you open the chat with STEEM Attestation Bot you should get a message on what to do. you simply need to reply them with your address. The wallet can be downloaded from here. It's the official wallet. The Windows wallet is as good and intuitive as any other mobile wallet with good UI and UX and I'm impressed with the functinality of the wallet. There are many great features and i really was missing few things by not installing a Byteball wallet. Try it and see for yourself.
Caution On PC
Do Not Jump In And Install The Full Wallet! It's not necessary and the installer does mention that you only need a full wallet in very specific cases like being a developer.
If Nothing Works After Some Time
This is the method that got things working for me when I was stuck for days.
Click the highlighted button and and remove the bot. Then go to the Bot Store again and connect with the bot. This seems to have helped many people.
Track Your Tx
Byteball is finally getting some network load due to airdrop and it will since a DAG works a bit like a torrent in some aspects, the so called "scalable" network takes a decnet chunk of imeto scale itself properly. You can see what's actually going on at https://explorer.byteball.org
You can stay more up to date with discussions at https://www.reddit.com/r/ByteBall But don'waste too much time on Reddit. you might actually get involved in some pointless debates which are just toxic and doesn't even going to make you any money like conversations on STEEM.
You Can Use Blackbytes or Enhanced Privacy
Blackbytes is the name of one, the first, defined private asset in Byteball. Byteball supports user-defined assets, the assets has properties such as private or public, amount of coins, coin-denominations and if any authentifiers is required for transferring, or if the asset is transferrable.
Blackbytes are defined as a private asset, meaning its never posted to the public Byteball database, it is ever only transferred when Byteball wallets have paired, private assets are sent encrypted through the Byteball network from device address to device address. When used over Tor, blackbytes become anonymous, and only the device-address can be known to the Byteball network.
To verify that a peer has not sent the same blackbyte to another peer before attempting to trick you into accepting it again, a spend-proof is posted to the public Byteball database. Upon receiving the blackbyte your full-wallet/light-wallet-hub provider, checks the spend-proof. The spend-proof does not contain amounts or sender/receiver information, it is merely a signature.

Good post about Byteball features that others don't mention.
I think I downloaded the whole wallet. Not sure. Anyway I'd be more than happy if someone told me how to just get rid of the whole thing. It all reads like French to me, I wouldn't know how to trade it for anything on Bittrex, which also just made the whole thing more confusing. It really isn't worth the few pieces of steem I'd get out of the deal. Do you know how I just cancel the whole wallet thing?
Does it take 10-20GB of hard drive space, if so then probably you installed full and also synced full. Does uninstalling free that space? If not, then you could also remove those folders and start over with light wallet that doesn't take much space https://wiki.byteball.org/Wallet#Rename_or_delete_this_folder_before_reinstall
It says the size is 389 MB. Is that the size of the light wallet?
If you downloaded the wallet just 2-3 days ago then it is most likely a partially downloaded full wallet and you are nowhere near finishing the sync, so yeah, delete that and open the wallet again and pick light wallet this time, it will create a new wallet.
When I go back to create a new light wallet it won't say I've already processed a wallet even though I deleted it from my system.

You have to verify your IP address to get the wallet, if I delete the wallet and try and do another wallet I may get rejected because that IP has been used already. Anyway I guess they've halved the rewards for signing up for people under fifty so it wouldn't make sense to do it again and get five bucks....right now I am still ahead by ten. I only did the thing to buy more steam. It takes me a week or so just to earn one steem on here, so that'd say me about five weeks of my life not grinding away making comments and upvoting post. I am not going to author a whole lot of stuff until I finally, in about four or five years (lol) get my bar so I can up vote my stuff to make it worth my wild.
.....I am not going to do anymore stuff like this though, I have no idea what I am doing so the chances I am going to buy me a couple pieces of additional steem are slim to none.
