I'm a Coder Now

in #busy8 years ago

Is it possible for someone who is in his mid 20's, without any background in computer science to learn how to code?
How long would it take?
Is it even worth it?

I Wrote my First Code Today

It was a silly little "Hello World" Code. I didn't even know what the whole thing meant but its a start. One of the perks of not having a phone is that you become really bored. Bored enough to start digging out old goals. I decided to learn how to code last month but I never really got to it. Thank God for this broken phone, I became bored enough to start.

I Don't Believe that Everyone Should be a Coder

I don't believe that everyone should be a coder but everyone should know a little coding.
Our lives are run by software. We use smartphones that are smarter than us. It's only going to get better/worse. As technology improves, we are going to see more and more software. More things will become automated. IOT is real. IOT means Internet of Things. IOT will create a world where things will be able to communicate with each other. That means that your car will be able to communicate with your blender and your socks will be able to communicate with your pen and your bed will be able to calculate with ur alarm clock and tell it to trigger the alarm even if you re sleeping too much even if you forgot to set the alarm. Wouldn't you rather be a geek in that kind of world?

In the world of cryptocurrencies, they are a lot of people who have an edge because of their technical knowledge. They understand how things work. I know it takes more than knowledge of computer science to make it but wouldn't you rather be a geek in a world where money is run by code?

There is a high demand for developers right now in the cryptocurrency space and that demand will keep increasing as more people start implementing blockchain in their business and using smart contracts.

Many people are going to lose their jobs if they cannot cope with the changes that are bound to happen. If you are a lawyer, learning how to code is a very good skill. It would prepare you for a world where middlemen are replaced by smart contracts.

Thank you for stopping by.

I agree more with you on this sir. In the same vain i signed up with codeacademy few weeks ago to myself abreast with the trends especially with the way this whole blockchain stuff is going.

What i studied in school is chemistry sha bought i know i have to come out of my intellectual comfort zone if am gonna fit in in the next generation.

Many people are going to lose their jobs if they cannot cope with the changes that are bound to happen.

Thanks alot for putting this together. Am inspired to do more.

You have been a very good source of strength and motivation sir. Strongly following your step as much as blockchain is concerned.

Hmmm! Did you means the real coding? If so, i guess i miss something. A friend had begged me to learn this sometimes ago but i damned him and now, it's like i'm damned for my refusal. I see in most crypto discord how often they need the service of a coder and developers. I cried inside for not having this skills.

How can i learn it just the way you did?

You can take courses on udemy, coursera, udacity e.t.c

Thanks for that.

The future is very promising for competent software developers.

My take home lesson:

"I don't believe that everyone should be a coder but everyone should know a little coding."

Well sir, the word "CODE" scares me completely. I somewhat run from anything calculation but i think coding is different. Maybe I had the wrong mindset towards it.

You know where the problem started? I did a borrowed course in computer science and what a hell with all the calculations and x + y in "computer" i came to study. I thought it was going to be something like... Click here, click there.

But thanks for the lesson sir. It is important to know a little coding...

Thus, everything happens for a reason.. You've gone back to your old goals that is worth it just because your phone got broken. I see that is a good move for more things to come.

Sometimes things are not as complex as some persons make it sound. If you actually genuine interest and give it a closer look it would surprise you what you would discover.
Its mindset.

Knowing a little bit about everything can save you many losses in life
Personally i dont have to call the mechanic every time to fix plug, or change oil. Or the carperter to fix my window nest. Leaening to do little things foe ourselves can very help make us become a better useful person in the long run and save resource as well.

Its a good start, which ever way it went. Congratulations @tojukaka

There is high demand for coders, and you took the right step.

I will join you in getting a knowledge on this...

You should consider Codeacademy.com sir for a start.

Thanks bro... I will try it out

Amazing. I also want to but the languages ar just too much, I don't even know which to choose from.

You may start with C++

just start
the more knowledge of coding you have, the more your capacity to learn will increase

Thanks boss

Your broken phone gave you the opportunity to be a coder.. Thats good sir. We live in a world of fast smart science and technology. We gat to go with the tide
