The Positive OutlooksteemCreated with Sketch.

Some wonder why do I have the outlook that I do. I guess we could ask that about everyone.

It is no secret that I am extremely optimistic about Steem. I was called everything from cheerleader to fanboy to Steemit troll this year. I guess people cannot take an optimistic viewpoint.

You can always tell who are the news watchers. They are typically the ones who call people like me unrealistic or the aforementioned names. People who watch the news have a negative view of things simply because that is what they are fed. Everything sucks and _____________ (fill it in with any crisis) is a dire situation. No matter what it is, the end is near.

For the past 14 months, I wrote about Steem and how good things are going. That does not mean that we are without problems. This is not utopia. There are a ton of challenges. Yet the viewpoint that Steem sucks and all the other things complained about are just senseless.

Look back over the past year and see all the things that people complained about. How much of it is a problem today? Oh wow, many of the problems were resolved? At the time, it was the end of Steem (or the world).

To throw a bit of mysticism into the equation, people who carry the negative outlook and espouse upon it really have no understanding of energy, attraction, and focus. Focus on how much things such and more will be created. Ever notice out people who advertise how they are mired in crap tend to be surrounded by the same type of people.

What is ironic is that it takes no more energy to be positive than it does to be negative.

Outlook is a choice. We are all free to choose where we focus out attention. Of course, even from a pragmatic angle, our actions are inevitably going to match what we concentrate upon. This is how these things become self-fulfilling.

Having an optimistic viewpoint does not believe we put our heads in the sand. Instead, it is keeping things in proper perspective while looking at the bigger picture.

And what is the bigger picture?

Things are getting better.

While many, especially those immersed in the news, feel things are getting worse, the reality is that, by most barometers, the world is improving. Are there still issues, some major? Absolutely.

Nevertheless, we are making progress on a lot of fronts. Going to the esoteric again, as above, so below.

Since everything in the universe is fractal in nature, what is happening in the world is also happening on Steem and vice versa. Steem is improving in so many ways. Look at almost any metric and we see progress. It might not be as fast as we want or without trouble, but they are improving. Of course, the one thing most people focus upon, price, reflects nothing about the ecosystem.

Yet negative price action means actions which follow that mindset, i.e. leaving.

Nevertheless, this is still a choice. There are many people who view the collapse in Steem price as a blessing. They are using the opportunity to load up on Steem Power and improve their standing on the blockchain. These individuals are optimistic about the future of Steem meaning their actions follow. They are not leaving the blockchain but, rather, increasing their stakes. This stems from a much different viewpoint.

In the end, who do you think will benefit? It is ironic the naysayers rarely win in life. Sure, if the blockchain completely blows up and nobody is using it, then the ones who left will be validated. However, if we see a continued move forward of development along with a consistent growth in the user base, then the odds of the token price remaining at these levels forever is almost nil.

It does not take a lot of deep level insight to realize how we create our own reality. There are tens of thousands of people on here each day who are optimistic about this blockchain and what is taking place. Looking at the stats put out by @penguinpablo, we saw a lot of powering up over the past 7 weeks.

The media likes sensation. Have you ever noticed that? The headlines are written in such a way that grab attention. They also spread fear. No matter what the topic, it is the worst thing to ever happen. Of course, fast forward in time and you see, looking back, it was nothing like it was predicted. The negativity proved to not only be unwarranted, but untrue.

As we approach 2019, I am so excited to see what the New Year will bring. Blockchain and cryptocurrency, in general, are exploding. We are seeing adoption rates go through the roof. Funny we do not see that mentioned in the headlines when talking about this industry. This is just another example of how what is really taking place does not match the stories being told.

Keep this in mind going forward. Steem is in an incredible place and those who are presently involved have a fantastic opportunity. The question is how many people realize that.

The only way to conquer the mountain is not to get caught up on the molehills.

2019 is going to be an amazing year.

Oh, and I even was not aware that any problem had been solved ... :)

I like the positivity, but at this point I find it a bit difficult because it seems that there is no one in charge over the direction we’re going, as we have completely lost communication from @ned.

Of course Steem is more than Steemit inc, but what will not happen to the SMT when 70 percent of the work force had to leave ? Will the launch be postponed yet another year.

In my opinion, steem could have been so much more by now, I’m scared some people lost the chance to capitalize on the invention of a life time. Sure there is still time to do so, but who will make that happen ?

@dan has been gone for over a year and while @ned hasn’t really appeared since not appearing for the last livestream, plenty has happened among the community. Check out @pennsif’s SOS posts as they will provide you some great summaries!

Hi man, sorry, my bad, I meant @ned. It must have been the Xmas Gluwein talking hehe. I will definitely check out @pennsifs posts - thanks buddy !

2019 is going to be an amazing year.

I think so too.
It has been a tough crypto year, but at some point I got used to it. Sometimes I am even hoping that we will stay at these low levels for 6 months. So we can accumulate more crypto. :)

Well stated!! I have the same optimism and outlook! It's basically one of my only long term hold cryptos and I love the use case and concept. I think it'll be amazing some day!! After all, we're only in Beta.

Hope all is well!! :)

Hopefully it will be a wonderful year for Steem and crypto in general, but we don't mind a year or two of laying down a strong foundation and pillars to avoid any hiccups in the future. On a low price action for a year or so, can definitely put Red Fish into Minnows, Minnows into Dolphins and possibly Dolphins to Orcas. Create a middle class. This should distribute the power more evenly and create an equal platform (to an extent).

Steem will survive as long as dapps are built on the blockchain, personally the social media aspect could be at its peak and even mainstream sites are struggling for retention. Yet, there might be a resurgence if there is a 'wow' factor.
