The 5 Platforms That Are Changing The WorldsteemCreated with Sketch.

A great deal of what I post on here is with the intention of education people as to what is taking place in the world and where we are going in the future. Obviously, posting on the Steem blockchain means that I am mostly catering to a forward thinking audience.

One of the reasons I do this is because there is a lot of fear spread by the mainstream. Much of it is unintentional simply due to ignorance. That said, most of us are aware there can be an agenda at times and those entities that are aware that new technologies are threatening them will attack it in an effort to hold onto what they have. This does not work in the long run but does serve to chase people away.

I came across this interview which really covers my thinking with how our future is going to look. Keep in mind that I am not here giving financial advice or recommending any of the companies she mentioned. What caught my attention is the platforms she mentioned that are the focus of her fund's investing.

To give a quick list:

-DNA sequencing (CRISPR)
-Robotics (including 3D printing)
-Energy Storage
-Nextgen Internet/Deep learning
-Blockchain/Cryptocurrency

These are the 5 main technological areas she sees as having massive impact on the world over the next decade.

If you want to skip to the Blockchain part, it is roughly at the 38 minute mark of the video. After that, it gets to be a mishmash of the different technologies throughout their conversation.

To me, this is a fair list that covers where technology is taking us. It is really something that you will not hear from the mainstream, especially politicians and talking heads on the business channels. Nevertheless, stepping back and seeing the totality of what is taking place is crucial.

The focus of most tends to be too narrow in scope. Why this is a challenge is because while any one technology is a game changer, the convergence of a number of them is what is going to provide the massive explosion.

I am glad I found this video because it really covers a great deal of what my thinking is. While I do not agree with everything she says (I believe we will see a lot of technological unemployment and the idea that tech will create more jobs because it always did in the past is a dangerous viewpoint), I think she covers the broad topics.

My optimism of the future is based upon many of these technologies. In my view, they are on one side when the world is looking at the opposite. Most of everyone is missing what is taking place right before their eyes.

This is the opportunity presented to us all. It is also a reason why we can laugh at some of the discussions taking place about "problems" that exist today. Look at a number of these technologies and you will quickly see what people fret about is already solved. It is just a matter of technological advancement and implementation which takes time.

As I often state, I do not care about the political, economic, or financial views one has. It is all changing meaning it have very little benefit. The technological component is driving everything. Those who are willing to read up and follow some of what is taking place will be much better served going forward.

Blockchain is full of people who are well aware of this. We are laying the foundation for those who come along tomorrow. One thing that was pointed out in the video is the potential for cryptocurrency and this entire industry. Numbers reaching into the trillions is not outrageous when you peel back the layers.

To me, the opportunity to partake in something this is explosive is reason enough to pay attention. I hope what I post on here helps people draw a similar conclusion.

The important common feature of these technological advances is that they are all decentralization. Power is effected via centralization, of wealth, of media influence, of military might, etc., while all of these vectors are generally controlled via wealth.

Decentralization is the direct increase in the power of the individuals using technologies versus those institutions and individuals previously having monopoly on those capabilities due to the centralization of those vectors of power.

Personally, I am surprised that 3D printing, CRISPR, and cryptocurrencies are so available at such low costs of entry. Given how energy storage and AI are essentially unavailable to most people due to the cost of entry being a barrier, I find these advances to be less critical presently, as civilians have little opportunity to adopt them. The low barrier to entry for ordinary people to adopt technology that directly empowers them is critically important, and may be the main driving force for decentralization.

Hopefully, AI and energy storage are advanced to the point where barriers to entry are reduced to the point that the public can benefit directly from those improvements soon.

Thanks!

What is encouraging to consider is how blockchain technology could link it all together; including existinf technology!
