@steemhunt: Time To Onboard Users

One of the biggest changes from Hard Fork 20 is the ability for applications to onboard users. This is something that would help to decentralize the sign up process somewhat while minimizing the wait time for people to get approval.

@steemhunt is one of the more active applications based upon the numbers they released. At present, they have 1,821 claimed accounts ready to be used. This is a fair amount to add to an application.

What I like about this is the fact that applications signing up users have a better chance of retaining them. People who like an application enough to want to sign up stand a better chance of returning since it is something they are truly interested in.

This is the power that the applications are starting to get.

Now, @steemhunt announced they are starting the process of signing people up. This is being done through the steemhunt.com website.

To be honest with you, I am not surprised that @steemhunt is one of the first applications to move in this direction. Since they started on Steem, I am thoroughly impressed. This development team showed nothing but the desire to keep innovating and moving forward. Updates are done regularly on their site while adding more features. We also can take a look at their airdrop which went through a couple of iterations. No matter what, they are determined to get the tokens into the hands of Steemians.

I must state the sign up process is in beta phase so everyone needs to be a bit patient while they work out the bugs. One thing they are very mindful of is abuse so they are looking to implement ways to prevent that. In fact, this is listed as one of the things on their upcoming road map.

They recently announced that they are going to be starting a witness node. This is something I am going to watch since this is a team that appears to be dedicated to Steem and the people on it. At present, they claim they are getting 5K non-Steemians a day on their site. This shows they have the ability to reach outside the ecosystem to help it grow.

It is also their goal to be equally committed as a witness. They are going to take the necessary steps to insure the wants and needs of the community are met, not just simply agree with what the developers want to push on Steem. This is something, after Hard Fork 20, that is very critical.

We are fortunate to have a few applications that are really charging ahead. This is a big priority for this blockchain. My view is simply the applications are going to garner the attention and draw in the users.

Each update an application makes on this blockchain only strengthens the entire ecosystem. And that benefits every Steemian.
