Steemhunt Showing What Is Possible With The "New Web"steemCreated with Sketch.

in #busy5 years ago

@steemhunt put out a tweet that is really telling.

For the last couple years, a lot was written about how Web 3.0 is going to change things. Many are having a tough time seeing what is taking place because the development, while advancing, appears to be moving at a snail's pace. Many still question the validity of blockchain and what is going to happen with it.

Steemhunt is one of those projects that is allowing people to see what things will be like down the road as progress is made.

Let us suppose you are the creator of a technological application and you want to market it. Today, one would, most likely, turn to online advertising. This decision means there are basically two choices: Facebook or Google. In this instance, to generate a buzz, Facebook might be the better choice.

Either way, some money is thrown at one of these public behemoths.

With Steemhunt, we are seeing another model created. This was used by buzzi to get some exposure to its new service.

The results, according to Steemhunt were terrific.

This is a pretty good deal. The Buzzi team was able to get their promotion done for 1/7th the price tag that Facebook would charge. The tweet says "desired results" so we can presume their marketing metrics were hit by the Hunters who were involved in this.

Which brings up the other fascinating piece to this.

The marketing funds went to Steemhunt who then distributed them to Hunters (minus their cut). Over the course of the campaign, here is what it looked like.

It appears the Buzzi team spend a couple hundred dollars on this campaign. Certainly, Facebook is not shaking in their boots over this one. However, it does tell the story of the potential that exists.

Instead of paying a mega-tech platform 7 times the amount spent, the choice to go with Steemhunt paid 268 people directly. Whereas Facebook would take the money and push it to its stockholders, this option put it in the hands of individuals who are doing the work.

This is just a start. According to the Reviewhunt site, there is more being spent.

We now see over $10,000 that is being spent on this type of marketing. If we use the same ration, this is $70,000 in money that normally would end up in the hands of Facebook. Certainly, this is a drop in the bucket to a company that rakes in billions although the same could be said for Facebook's ads when they started compared to print media.

The key here is that Steemhunt is offering the ability to reach a desired end while spending a lot less money to get there. At the same time, the marketing budget is being spread out among individuals as opposed to feeding a Wall Street tech titan.

To me, this is the epitome of Web 3.0. We are going to see a lot more of this moving forward. Steemhunt is just one application on one blockchain. Consider the impact if this idea is repeated hundreds of different times in many different categories. Technology related products is only one area. We could see something similar for most any type of product.

Certainly, none of the Hunters were getting rich of this deal. They averaged less than a dollar each. What is important is we are seeing the foundation where people will be able to do hundreds of things a day to earn similar money.

Companies spend hundreds of billions around the world on advertising. Imagine a large bulk of that spread around in a manner such as this. At some point, Steemhunt will not have $10K in project but, rather, $100K. From there, we can expect it to keep growing if it can consistently show the results it did with the Buzzi campaign.

This also creates a use case for the Hunt token. Here we see fiat money from marketing budgets invested into the platform. The Hunt team goes out and buys the token on an exchange to distribute during the campaign. This sucks some of it off the open market.

It is nothing more than a beginning yet all change has a starting point. Over time, I would expect the numbers to get bigger as well as more people getting actively involved. Social media, for the past decade, was a venture that people spent a lot of time on. This made some mega-corporations the largest in the world.

That is changing. We are seeing the groundwork laid whereby people are rewarded for their time and effort. Steemhunt is one such example.

This is what I believe will be part of the next wave of the Internet.

Yes, I think they will succeed. I try to participate - I'm sorry for the sale, I did not have time to buy HANT tokens at a good price

So much power we have here and so much to grow... it's been a long time and I still love this place :D

and do not forget that even though Steemhunt and Hunt in general is an amazing project it is also taking Fiat to buy tokens that run on Steem... So less liquid steem, price rises
