STEEM Access Points Keep Spreading
It is interesting to watch the news about Steem come out. My observation is that it goes in waves. Sometimes we get a lot of information about applications. Other times it is developments on the blockchain.
Of late, the news that is flying is regarding Steem based tokens and exchanges. We have a number of options arise in the last couple weeks that are interesting.
Daybit
This is the program that @steemhunt was taking the lead on. From their latest update, not only will STEEM/SBD be listed but so will any application token that is formed used the ERC20 protocol. Also, when the SMT protocol is brought out, that exchange will also integrate with that.
For those tokens that do attain the necessary level of volume, they will also offer a fiat to token pairing. This could be very helpful to those projects looking to raise money.
Steem-Engine
Here we have an initiative built by a few Steemians who saw a problem and set out to fix it. This provides the Steem ecosystem with its own token creation. Anyone who purchases 100 ENG tokens can create a token. The cost of ENG is 1 STEEM to try and entice only serious projects.
They are going to roll out an exchange which means that any token created using this platform will be tradeable with any other on there. It is a way to house Steem based tokens in one place.
Netcoins
Do you remember this one? This was a listing that the Steem community was able to push. Through the voting, Steemians were able to get STEEM listed on this exchange.
It now appears Netcoins developed an application that takes not only Fiat but also credit cards. I have not done any testing with it yet this is another big step.
Here is a post explaining it.

Lykke Exchange
Our very own Steemit made this announcement yesterday. STEEM is going to be listed on the Lykke exchange. While this is rather limited in who they provide access to, it is good to see another one pick up our main token. Those who are not in the US, Australia or Canada can use this one.

As I wrote yesterday, Steem is a gem that most are overlooking. I am perfectly content with us remaining under the radar for the time being while development takes place. We are seeing the expansion of exchanges interested in STEEM without hitting the major ones. They are still overlooking us. And that is okay.
There will come a time when Steem will be on the radar of most. We are plodding along without a hype machine. All recognition that Steem is receiving is organic. This will pay dividends down the road. We are in the process of seeing a solid foundation built.
The bottom line is that more exchanges and access points for the currency will make it easier for people to get onboard. It would be great if an outfit like Coinbase suddenly added STEEM. However, for the time being, we have more important things to focus upon.
And who knows, one of these exchanges could end up have incredible growth. We never know when a start up might take off.

As more gateways are created and used, more exchanges will include Steem as the alternatives are not as attractive as they used to be. We continue to see the contrary as failing projects are getting delisted to reduce the risks for the exchanges. In addition, as the cost of nodes decrease, others may consider opening up to considering a Steem listing.
