I think that it should not reduce the rewards given by others' contract.
It is against the great principle of Freedom of Contracts and the concept of coins.

It is not true. There is mute.
Mute is peaceful way of not seeing others writing.
Down-vote hiding is man-slaughtering way of not seeing others writings, which causes wars.

If someone take away the contract money rewarded to authors by curators,
it's robbery and it will cause the start of revenge.

If someone take away all the contract money rewarded to some authors,
it will cause start of war.

If someone take away every contract money rewarded to some authors,
and also hide the all the writings of the authors,
it is like killing the authors and try to expel the authors and their investment from Steem
and spreading the bad reputations of Steem that Steem is a bad place not to enter.

If you allow someone to take away the contract money rewarded to authors by curators,
Steem will be full of robots killing humans, forcing people to delegate to the robots and expelling good writings and authors and investors.

Genuine Population and price of Steem will be badly affected.

"Make better content ?" to avoid the down-vote ?
It is stupid idea.
However best contents you make, you will be downvoted by the man-slaughtering robots.

You and every Steemians will see daily wars and be affected by the astray bullets from the battlefield.

Steem inc. seems to enjoy these war situations expecting more investment by the man-slaughtered victims,
but they may see that this bad policy will accelerate other author-rewarding-media competitors without down-vote to come out and replace Steem.
