RE: TIL: What Busy.org is working on and WHY it will BLOW OUR STEEMING MINDS!

in #busy8 years ago (edited)

The app has probably millions of commerce and services subscribed to it, so it's very diversified, the fact that it is in one app doesn't mean there is no choice. I don't get your point about dense population...

People use this for convenience and merchants use it to advertise their product in a new viral way so it will work in any country.

The only way to bootstrap a social media site that could rival giants like facebook is by building this kind of multi apps. Merchants and services will have an incentive to connect to the social media site to benefits from the user base, then the more apps the more users you get and it can snowball from there.
Do you know when twitter and facebook network effect started to kick in? It was when they developed their own API.

yes, there is money in apps, but the type of app featured in this video would not work in the USA. In a democratic society everything is naturally more fragmented as people have more freedom of choice, and would exercise their freedom by not doing everything in one single app.

Nobody is forced to use the app and it provides a lot of choice. The video is misleading as it gives this impression that you have to use the same services over and over again when in fact there are millions of them.
