Museum and Memorial in The Tour with Mom and Uncle, Gangwha-do Island, Korea

After the lunch, we headed for the fortress, Gwuangseong-Bo.
Actually, Gangwha-do island was the one of the fierce battle field through Korean history.

In Goryeo Dynasty, Mongol army had invaded Goryeo. At that time, Goryeo dynasty moved their capital to Gangwha-do island and had resisted against Mongols' invasion for about 40 years.

Whenever being invaded, Ganwha-do island became a substitute capital to resist against the invasion.

This fortress was a base against American Navy in 1871.
At that time, Choson Dynasty closed their country against any trade with foreign country.

And the American navy assaulted Gangwha-do island requesting to trade with them.
Under the command of General Eo Jeayeon, Choson Army resisted against American Navy.
But Choson Army was defeated with 53 KIA, 100 Commit Suicide, 20 POW.
100 people committed suicide rather than to be captured as the POW.
At that time General Eo Jaeyeon and his younger brother was killed in the fortress.

Now, this fortress is famous for the tour sites.

Mom was very interested in the weapons of that time.

The road was well cared for walking.
My uncle had a pain on his knee, but this place was not difficult for him to enjoy short walking.

I photographed mom and uncle while they were walking toghether.

There was a small war memorial near the fortress.
Mom and uncle looked around this memorial.

It was a happy day.
