POEM: Catching Shifts
Don't ask me
if I slice my seconds
for your slender shifts
Too big to swallow
and too hollow
to call a tender gift
Don't ask me
to bend any more
than you've already seen
My back is arched
and inner light spans
to the mezzanine
You keep assuming
my hands miss
the pearls you betray
While I say less,
is more cacophony
necessary?
