If you want to know what a person is like, take a good look at how he/she treats his inferiors, not his equals
Our life is not the thing that we all imagine. In this life we get to see many things that were not known to us or we were not aware of it. Despite that life is the everlasting truth that will be there and will show us things that will make us realize how the things works in the World.
We do mistakes in our life. It is all right in doing that learning from those mistakes is the real deal.
There is no specific rule to get to know how the person is who is sitting in front of you. As a matter of fact you can try this method for few times in few occasions by which you can get the idea of who the person is or how he/she is in real life .
TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT HOW HE/SHE TREATS HIS INFERIORS, NOT HIS/HER EQUALS
This will show that how the person behavior is , if the person is generous or not, if the person is humble or not, if the person will be appropriate for you in hard/good times. Simple step can give you the idea and can make a whole lot difference in your life.
In doing that we get to realize that some people reveals their true nature in front of you while in the path of where you once walked with them and never thought of seeing the real self of them. Some of the behaviors might be hurtful while some will be there for your comfort.
Do not expect very much from people as more the expectation more the pain if that person let you down.

I agree that observing another person's interactions with those who are perceive to be inferior is a good indicator of how a person is, but it is only that, an indicator. There could be any number of reasons why a person could mistreat another. If you see a troubling behavior, although you should proceed with caution, it is not enough to make a decision on, perhaps something happened in that person's life that could cause them to be in a bit of a mood on that particular day. If on the other hand, the behavior (or group of behaviors) is something you have witnessed on multiple occasions, RUN....
I do agree to the point of yours and as a matter of fact it is just a speculation.
There are more things that we should be concerned about.While I edited a small sentence.

very difficult to know the nature of a person especially a person who has not been long known, almost all theories can not be relied upon because of its prejudice. instead people who have deviant behavior, usually always look good and right in society.
