Beautiful Sunday: Slow and quiet weekend, สุดสัปดาห์ที่เงียบสงบริมแม่นํ้า

This is the sunset on Sunday evening after the heavy rain. Very brief and faint sunset, the sky’s very cloudy.

The rain finally came during Saturday night and it continued till Sunday late morning. The trees and plants have become very green. This rain is really off-season. It should have rained at the beginning of January for a week as usual. Better late than never, I supposed. But this had confused many fruit trees; they were supposed to be flowering in January under the January light rain. I had to compensate by spraying water on my mango trees to make them flower. This year most mango trees in Nongkhai hardly have flower blossoms.

This weekend rain has turned the weather to winter season, it drops down over 15 degree Celsius at night. The grand solar minimum is beginning to play havoc with our local weather pattern, trees and health. These two days the sky has been full of layers of white clouds preventing bright sunshine to come through. I have noticed unusual stronger wind blowing from the south, this momth the wind should be coming from the north and north-east.

Being dry season, the water level has gone down at least eight meters. This is exacerbated by the many Chinese dams upstream, sudden decrease of water level tells us that they have stopped the natural flows of water. This affects local villagers who grow vegetables long the bank of the river. Life is much harder for fishermen as bigger fish are not allowed to travel down stream after laying their eggs and small young fish are held hostage inside those dams. Long term, poor people are going to disappear and the middle class will slowly perish! No food, no water, no money, no power, no living!

ฝนที่รอคอยตั้งแต่เดือนมกราคมมาแล้ว เมฆดำตั้งเค้าทางฝั่งลาวแล้วข้ามมาสำแดงเดช วันเสาร์ตอนกลางคืน ฝนตกเกือบทั้งคืนทำให้ทุกคนนอนหลับสบายจนไม่อยากตื่นนอน. อากาศเปลี่ยนเป็นหน้าหนาวในคืนเดียว เราต้องใส่เสื้อกันหนาวมาสองวันแล้ว อุณหภูมิลดลง15 องศาตอนกลางคืน พวกแมวพากันนอนกอดกันกลมทั้งสี่ตัว ฝนตกต่อเนื่องจนถึงวันอาทิตย์ตอนเที่ยง ท้องฟ้าเต็มไปด้วเมฆหนาแน่นจนไม่มีแดดทั้งวัน โชคดีที่มีพระอาทิตย์ตกให้เห็นสองขั่วโมงตอนเย็น

เพื่อนบ้านกำลังสร้างบ้านเพื่อมาย้ายมาอยู่ที่เมืองไทย หลังจากเกษียรที่อเมริกา แถวนี้มีฝรั่งอยู่กับคนอีสานหลายบ้านทีเดียว ชาวบ้านเรียกแถวนี้ว่าถนนอินเตอร์ เพราะมีฝรั่งและคนไทยที่ไปทำงานต่างประเทศมาอยู่หลายหลัง เราสังเกตเห็นแม่นํ้าลดระดับลงไปมาก ทำให้รู้ว่าเขาปิดเขื่อนที่จีนอีกแล้ว เวลาเขาเปิดเขื่อนจะทำให้นํ้าขึ้นวันเดียวเกือบสามเมตรทีเดียว นี่ทำให้ชีวิตชาวบ้านที่ปลูกผักริมแม่นํ้าลำบาก และชาวประมงก็หาปลายากขึ้น ปลาใหญ่ที่ขึ้นไปวางไข่ที่ต้นนํ้าและลูกปลาไม่สามารถว่ายนํ้ากลับลงมาตามแม่นํ้าได้ คนจนจะอยู่ลำบาก คนชั้นกลางก็จะหายไป ถ้าไม่มีน้ำก็ไม่มีกิน ไม่มีเงิน ไม่มีอำนาจ ก็ไม่มีชีวิตอยู่รอดได้ ตอนนี้เราตามข่าวพวกฝรั่งรวยๆที่มีการศึกษา เขากำลังเตรียมตัวรับมือ กับยุคนํ้าแข็งที่กลับมาทุก240ปี ผลกระทบเริ่มแล้วดูได้จากหิมะที่ตกหนักในหลายประเทศ แม้กระทั่งในทะเลทราย ต่อไปจะมีแผ่นดินไหวมากขึ้นแรงขึ้น จะมีพายุฝนตก ทำให้นํ้าท่วม บางแห่งจะเจออากาศแห้งแล้งและไฟป่า อากาศสุดโต่งเริ่มแล้ว อาหารและเชื้อเพลิงจะขึ้นราคาไปเรื่อยๆ เศรษฐกิจพอเพียงเป็นทางรอดที่ดีที่สุดสำหรับอนาคต ที่เต็มไปด้วยความไม่แน่นอน
