With two German Shedders, I feel your pain.
Our house looks like a desert full of tumbleweeds during shedding season.
One recommendation I can give is make sure you brush is an undercoat rake. You can tell when the teeth are two diameters (Thick at the base, thin at the tip). It will make a night and day difference in your brushing.

Just make sure it's got teeth that look like this. Otherwise you'll be pulling the top coat which is uncomfortable for double-coat breeds (Huskies/Shepherds/Corgis etc)
