 John drove home but he couldn't stop thinking about Julia. His mind kept on drifting back to the little house where she lived. He has never seen a house quite like it and it was the weirdest thing to see this little house in the middle of nowhere. It fit Julia's personality perfectly. 

George phoned him on the way home, and mocked him with some jokes about Julia. 

"I'm telling you George, there is absolutely nothing between us, but I have an attraction to this woman like I've never had before in my life. I just don't know if she is into me at all." 

"Argghh John you just can't see a good thing even if it is right in  front of you. You need to make the first move, that girl is so into you." 

"You're wrong, but from experience I know that it's pointless to argue with you. I'll see you tomorrow George." 

He threw the phone on the seat next to him, and was suddenly quite annoyed with everything. He decided to stop for another drink on his way home, and ordered a double whisky on the rocks.  The mere thought of Julia drove him absolutely crazy and he realized that he had to do something about it soon. 

She was messing around with his head and he didn't like it. He arrived at home and poured himself another whisky. He loosened his tie and swallowed his drink. He had to find out what he could about Julia, and there was only one way to do this. 

He didn't have her number,but if he did, he would have phoned immediately to ask her out on a proper date. He switched on the television and tried to get his mind on something else, and must have fallen asleep because he woke up at three in the morning feeling very uncomfortable on the couch. 

He went to bed but lay awake for about two hours before dozing off again. He still couldn't stop thinking about Julia, and he felt angry at himself with being so consumed with her. 

He finally got up at five and decided to go for a quick run to clear his mind. He felt much better afterwards and took a quick shower before driving to work. He arrived there early before Julia, and grabbed his laptop. 

He had a few meetings away from the office today, and the rest of the day went quite smoothly because he was not at the office and kept his mind busy with work.  On his way back to the office he stopped for a quick take away and  some coffee. At five o'clock he stopped in front of the office building after visiting all the new building sites.  

Julia had left already and he found all his proposals neatly typed on his desk. He switched on his laptop to check his emails, and was just about to check the proposals, when his cellphone rang. He didn't know the number, but answered anyways. It was Julia. His heart skipped a beat and he felt the blood rushing through his body.  

"Hi Julia, thanks for the proposals." 

He sounded out of breath and Julia wondered if she caught him while at the gym. 

"I'm sorry if I called at a bad time, but I was wondering if you would like to come to dinner. I've cooked up a storm and it's just too much for one person."

"I would love to come to dinner. Anything I should bring?"

She asked him to bring an extra bottle of wine. 

"I'll see you in an hour."

John was so excited he could hardly stop smiling. He stopped to buy some flowers and a bottle of wine and then drove straight to her house.  He thought of going home quickly to shower and dress more casual, but decided against it.  

He was fifteen minutes early, but there was no way that he was going to be late for this party.
