The house- Chapter 21

Matt and Sarah did not talk about the baby again for the rest of the day.  Sarah felt a lot better and Matt ordered some Chinese food for lunch. He knew it was Sarah's favorite food and after a few days of not eating, she was literally as hungry as a horse. She ate more than usual, and Matt laughed when she asked if she could have some of his food too.

"I am really eating for two now.. soon I will not fit through the door! " Sarah said, and grabbed the last spring-roll from Matt's plate.  She gobbled it up as if she hasn't eaten in a week.

Matt was relieved that she felt so much better and there was at least a little hope that she would keep the baby. He always wanted more kids, and it was obviously painful for him to be so far away from his own son, although he did see him regularly.

Matt did not pressure Sarah in any way about the baby and they chatted about the upcoming wedding and Jack coming to visit. It was only two days before his arrival and Sarah wanted to finish his room before Jack arrived. She suggested that they finish painting Jack's room and Matt laughed at her.

"No Missy, there is no way that you touch a paintbrush. I am sure the paint will make you sick.  I'll ask the contractors to finish the room.  The best that we can do is to buy furniture and I will hang the curtains.  Your days of renovating is over for a while."

Sarah rolled her eyes at Matt and did not seem very happy about the situation.

"Well if you want this baby so much then you can have it!"  Sarah said sarcastically but immediately felt guilty and stopped talking.

"Look Sarah it is your body. You have to do whatever you feel you have to do...I'm just explaining how I feel about it. I love you and I want to have this baby with you."

"Why?  It will ruin our lives. We are just starting our life together and a baby will just screw that all up."

Matt looked sad and then turned around and walked out of the room.  He was upset.  Sarah has never seen him angry, but she was so angry at herself for allowing this to happen that she did not even think of how she might be hurting him.  She wanted to go after him but instead she turned around and went back to bed.

When Matt came back, Sarah was out like a log again.  At least he got hold of the painter and he promised to be there in the morning to complete Jack's room.  He decided to let her sleep and went downstairs to watch some television.  It wasn't long before he fell asleep and it was nearly midnight when Sarah came to wake him up.

"I'm sorry about what I said Matt. I am just terrified at the whole idea of having a baby.  Everything is just too much for me.  First the flue and then the stomach flue that turned into a baby....I'm still not sure but I've decided not to do anything about this yet until after the wedding."

"I am sorry too.  I didn't mean to put any pressure on you....I am just so damn excited about having a baby with you that I can hardly think straight."

Sarah smiled at him and asked him to follow her upstairs to their bedroom.

The next day was less eventful and Matt took Sarah to the furniture shop to go and pick out some furniture for Jack's room.  Matt was really excited about Jack's arrival the next day and she suggested that they go out to lunch at Matt's favorite restaurant.  Matt ordered some wine for himself, and some red grape-juice for Sarah.

When they arrived home after lunch the delivery truck already delivered the furniture and the contractors had  to sign for delivery.  They helped to carry all the furniture inside, and Matt hung the curtains. Sarah made the bed and then put up photo frames next to Jack's bed while Matt hung the posters they bought for Jack that day. It was amazing to see the transformation in the room, and slowly but surely the house was taking shape.

After everything was done to Sarah's taste, they went to bed.  Matt set his alarm clock for six the next morning as he had to pick up Jack at seven.  Matt was so excited that he could hardly sleep but nothing prevented Sarah from sleeping.  The pregnancy was really taking its toll on her and she could hardly stay awake to properly say goodnight to Matt.

very good story, one life photography of white and black.

I think they’re having better understanding of themselves, and they really love each other, definitely their baby is on the way.

Wait for the cravings for Tomatoes in the middle of winter, when the very few that are available cost more than their weight in gold.
Poor Matt has a lot to remember.

ha ha.....I never had any cravings while I was pregnant.

My boss didn't have any of the strange ones, like pickle and peanut butter that her sister did.
