Freewrite Day 482 Magical Realism

in #busy6 years ago (edited)

freewriteMagical realism fitinfun.jpg

All of my life is magical. I was not supposed to be born to begin with, and then not supposed to live. Then I was supposed to die many times and not see 20, 30, 40, 50 and yet here I am at almost 60.

Reality is the place I try to stay in. It’s not realism – it is reality. Realism is when they make you think something is real. This is why I rarely watch or listen to anything mainstream – I already know that is some bs they are trying to make us believe.

When people ask me who “they” are, I say, “I don’t know and I don’t care. “They” are the 1% overlord type people and whoever they make us think they are is most likely not the truth.

I moved often as a kid, and later in my teens, and really have never stopped moving since. I worked in accounting for many years and nothing people do anywhere ever surprises me. I’m always interested, but never surprised.

This week, I ran across an old memory from the time I was 17. A man I knew then told me:

“They convicted me for manslaughter, but it was really murder.”

When he told me that he was 25, and I knew it was true.

He’s an infamous guy, as was the crime.

This week I saw a TV news show interview he did when he was about 65 years old. After I got over the shock of knowing he was still alive, I decided to watch. He told the same story he told me long ago. But now he cannot remember if he killed the guy at all, (“they say I did”) much less what type of crime it was.

Is the man I knew living in a magical reality now? It’s one that allows him to live with himself maybe. So what about my memory? Is it magical reality too?

And how about the dead guy?

You don't believe me?
Truth is stranger than fiction
We drive through there every night!

Statistics say that only 5% of people with health resolutions for the New Year will still be on track after Super Bowl Sunday. Is your fitness equipment still out handy, and are you still on a "diet?"

I lost "Half My Size" eight years ago by using natural methods. I started on December 5th and did not give up. You can do it too!

Reality and realism, so similar but so different. I like you stay in reality instead of realism. And the story of the man gives me some goosebumps. I don't know why.

But, I want to greet you Happy Valentine's Day still. And tell you, you are awesome.

Thank you very much and Happy Valentine's Day to you too, @iamjadeline.

He was a chilling guy and best stayed far away from. I'm glad my tale was effecting anyway.

I talk about reality and realism in my weight loss work at times. People do not want to see things for how they are and often this is why they stay obese. Just getting people to find out if they are obese or not with the bmi stats is enough to send them running away.

I know why gives you goosebumps! He killed, and he got away with it!
My sister's murderer has walked free since the night of Nov. 28, 1975, while she never got to marry, have children, meet her sister's children, see CDs and iPods and YouTube... but he... he is a grandpa, a minister with a flock who love Pastor Bob, and he's got people in high places who say "Bob is good people." Good like John Gacy, who was handed an award from First Lady Rosalynn Carter for his civic volunteerism. Gag me. Sorry for this... I almost passed over this post in silence because of the killer, but your "I don't know why" just uncorked my need to rant. Thanks @fitinfun and @iamjadeline for sharing your thoughts with #freewritehouse!

Oh my God. My prayers are for you and you family, @carolkean. This is a horrible tragedy. I am so very sorry. It's hard to know why something like this could happen. We have to just praise God that the vast majority of people in the world are good. We are so trusting that we are easily fooled. There are a number of stories like that with criminals having friends in high places.

But in the case of this person in my story, he did serve a 7 year sentence. I met him during the brief time we was out before going back in for anther crime.

I'm glad the guy you met did serve some time behind bars. And thanks for the prayers and condolences. It changes your life, t o lose someone so young and vibrant, but to have that life stolen - to have her body dumped like roadside trash, and the killer(s) to walk free - that just ratchets up the shock and awe and outrage to a different realm. I'm amazed at how many other people have lost a loved one to murder, yet somehow, most of us move on. Thanks again @fitinfun.

We are very resilient until we are not. I too see people go through incredible hardship and trauma and succeed in coming out a better stronger person. This is the best result of any tragedy.

Yes! My friend Monica lost her only brother to brain cancer (he was 11). Twenty years later she was married and expecting the first grandchild, but on the anniversary of Albert's death, her father committed suicide. He was a devout Catholic with a devoted wife and two daughters, but he disproved the old truism that God never gives you more than you can handle. How was he unable to see that his suicide would increase the burden and anguish exponentially for those he left behind? I'll never understand.

My son is 25 and many of his childhood friends are already gone now. Quite a lot of those were suicides. Those kids were my kids in a way, but they were his close friends. I wondered like you how those upset by prior suicides could do this to those remaining. Now I feel they are not able to look past their own pain.

You son is too young to lose "many" friends to suicide! With teenagers versus adults who are married with kids, the despair and the lack of perspective are a bit easier to fathom, but I just can't imagine a mother or father ending it all when other depend on them. Maybe that is part of it right there: having to be strong for others when you can't be strong for yourself. I just cannot fathom it, anyway, to love somebody so much and yet that person commits suicide, and the inevitable "how did I not see this coming" - it's just haunting.

Sorry to hear that happened to your sister. Hugs @carolkean 💖.

The whole perception and opinion thing right...
Funny, I had two different people read my palm at two different times and both told me I would not live past 30. I thought it was funny and didn't mind it. Thought I'd live it up til then.
Then I crossed it and kept going.
Now I have to stick around for the kids until the youngest is at least officially an adult.

hmmmmm.... actually what a strange thing to tell their customer... surely they could have sugar coated it hahaha

In the midst of all my poor health, I had two separate people read my palm as well. Both told me I would live until 84! The readings were a couple of years apart in different places when I was in my 20's. I am counting on it now, lol. If I get past that age, I will be aiming for 100 :)

I am here at your post again to deliver prompt.
