Freewrite Day 433 Roadblocks

Freewrite roadblocks fitinfun.jpg

Roadblocks to succeeding with our dreams are mostly in our own heads. I have a couple of fb friends who prove that to me almost every day.

One is a guy who writes articles for other people’s websites. They give him the topic such as “fear of the dentist” or “places to retire.” Then he writes 10 articles on different aspects of this topic in less than one day and makes 1000 dollars or so. I have other friends who do this same work for pennies.

What makes the difference with this friend and my other friends? He markets himself to high end clients, and does not take less that he’s expecting. My other friends work on platforms with all kinds of competition and do the work no matter how low an offer they get.

My successful friend posts from all over the world as travel is the thing he likes to do. He buys tech products on a whim and shows us how they work (or not). He likes to work in coffee shops and post photos from them in the various countries he visits. The lack of a good coffee shop is enough to make him move on.

My friends working for pennies post about how their utilities are about to be shut off.

The second friend this prompt brings to mind is an admin in one of my chronic pain groups. It’s one of the first I joined many years ago. This lady tirelessly boosts the rest of us out of our bad days.

One of the drugs she was taking attacked her over 5 years ago and she almost died with bad infections. One on the infections went to her leg and would not stop. After a couple of years of unsuccessfully fighting the infection she decided to allow doctors to amputate her lower leg. This has led to over 30 operations in the last years, a lot more leg removal, all kinds of trouble finding and using prostheses and now at least a year of therapy that was not yet let her walk.

Through all of this she has still been the cheerleader for the rest of us and posts optimism and hope almost daily. She tells us about upcoming surgeries and say goodbye and how much she loves us, “just in case.” After she wakes up, she posts and says, “I’m loopy now! Ask me anything!”

I also have many connections with much smaller problems with chronic disease who spend their days on negativity and live utterly miserable lives.

What is the difference?

Some of have roadblocks and some of us have opportunities.

My post is for the #freewrite daily challenge by @mariannewest. Freewrite is a great way to post on steemit when you do not think you have the time, or talent, or anything to say. It’s a great way to start regular posting on steemit. I know you can do this too! Here is Marianne’s freewrite prompt post for today. Give it a try and surprise yourself.

I really enjoyed reading your freewrite. I have similar friends myself, and you're so right, it is about one's perspective - roadblock or way through.

I have friends like that too
They know their worth and will not settle for anything less
But I also feel it is because they are not in a desperate place.... and that is a good place to be at :D
