Everything worked out

Well, I finally got to the place I wanted to see.
Narrow-gauge road "Gayvoron-Rudnitsa" is unique in its way. Usually, a narrow gauge starts from the wide one and leads to a very remote wilderness. Here, in fact, both ends of the line have a connection with a wide track. Well, this is the only one of the three main narrow-gauge lines of Ukraine, on which I have not before been.
A narrow-gauge railway connects the station Rudnitsa, located on the railway station. the Kiev-Odessa highway in the Vinnytsia region, and the district center of the Kirovohrad region - Gaivoron settlement. But in Haivoron the line does not end: it goes further east about 40 km to the village of Golovanevsk. The movement on the site "Gayvoron - Golovanevsk" only 2 times a week and is not coordinated with the trains to Rudnitsa. That is, to drive the whole line, it is difficult and tricky to guess with days, time and at least half a day to hang out in Gaivoron.

The history of the appearance of this line is quite interesting. The line "Rudnitsa - Gayvoron - Golovanevsk" is a remnant from the huge network of narrow-gauge railways built in the early 20th century throughout Central Ukraine. This network was built for the export of agricultural products from the fields, and reached Vinnytsia and Zhitomir, where it docked with a wide rut.
In the middle of the 20th century, individual branches began to be converted to a wide track. So one of the first was the line from Zhytomyr. Some lines in general were dismantled without the construction of a traditional gauge. The fact is that by the early 90's and to this day, only this line has remained narrow-gauge.

Well, it's time to go already. We go to the ticket office for the ticket. The ticket in Gaivoron is cut out like in old times by scissors. Another good such stone for giving the entourage "retro" of this line. 18 hryvnia, 40 kopecks. It's a shame that I was too shy to photograph the process of cutting out this ticket with scissors.

The width of the track is 750 mm. Semaphores are still active. Alas, for the inhabitants of Ukrainian villages this "road of life" is the only way to at least somehow live. Reminded strongly of Africa, where people also travel for several hundred kilometers with heavy baskets and trunks to sell for pennies products from the field and garden. Look at the map where Rudnitsa, Bershad and Gayvoron are, and where Kiev and Odessa, and estimate how many unfortunate people have to unwind in both directions several times a month to at least somehow earn. But, all the same, Ukrainians have comfortable transport - such a convenient, cheap, albeit slow train, but it is. African peasants, get to the bazaars on smelly broken buses on bumps where they can shake the soul.

The train departs around 17:00, behind is the platform and railway equipment - snow-removing machine

By the way, there are not many trains stopping at Rudnica station. leaving here can be a problem, especially in winter. In summer because of the holiday season, there are more trains.

Well, the narrow gauge railway "Gayvoron-Rudnitsa" will wish a long life and prosperity. And its passengers - to go on it for more joyful occasions and with less heavy loads.
