TWEAK: Save on Some Crypto Transaction Fees

in #busy6 years ago (edited)

I have been writing about proof-of-stake (also shortened, PoS) altcoins in the past. This is part of an effort to educate some folks about the advantages of PoS, as against proof-of-work (also known as "mining").

 * Staking Alt Coins for Passive Income
 * AutoStart Staker Daemon on Boot
 * Setup An Alt Coin Masternode for Passive Income
 * Staking with Multiple Masternodes
 * Masternode Proof-of-Stake Push Notifications

This time, the aim is to introduce the concept of fee-less transactions. Yes, you are reading it right fee-less.

While the fees for some PoS altcoins are dust compared to other cryptos, when having really small rewards these dust often add up and become quite significant.

I have tackled some coins like Nyerium (ticker: NYEX) and GlynoCoin (ticker: GLYNO). This time let me introduce Worx (ticker: WORX) which is a blockchain for the freelancers out there, myself included. I'm quite a part-time freelancer myself so that got me to participate in this PoS cryptocurrency.

To access, the fee-less configuration of the wallet, click the Choose.. button next to Transaction Fees (see the circled part of the screenshot below..

Tick the box where it says, Send as zero-fee transaction if possible. This is not ticked by default.

With the above, you may send transactions for masternode collateral(s), or split UTXOs for more efficient staking of coins. I have had several zero-fee transactions already. Sample is below. Notice Net amount: 0.00000000 WORX!

This feature is available to other coins as well, not just WORX. And note that not all transactions will be fee-less (hint: if possible), even though the feature is enabled. Some transactions still will have charges, but hey dust is still crypto and has value!

I thought you had jumped ship! Excellent guide fees are always a sneaky one one Crypto and often you can see a hefty % disappear if you are not careful. Good advice, it's always worth double checking for those tick boxes.

not yet sir.. am just away from the keyboard too long.
this is also part of the reason why i'm into PoS. so i could spend time away from the keyboard, yet earn still.

I really need to learn all the technical terms for crypto... I thought POS was Point of Sale! (Probably from my days working as a checkout chick at kwik-save supermarket all those years ago...) xD Thank you so much for the info! :)
