I woke up with terrible nightmare in which apreson was chased by stray dogs at an unknown place he was asking random people/house for help. That 99% could be me because i didn't have any great memories when it comes for stray dogs. I have been chased bitten by dog multiple times. Even my pet dog bite me once that why always hate dogs and always make distance form them

THE BLUE CITY:- JODHPUR

I was in jodhpur for couple of days back. The city was like a heritage and raw. The old part of city filled with infinite zig- zag, wide and narrow alleys and all seem like lead to same point. You can see the real beauti of these alleys without getting lost in them. So thats what i decided to do.

I spent couples of days at an ultra luxurious hotel, away from city. i decided to go at the older part of jodhpur and explore more about this city. My guest house had a surreal grand view of Mehrangarh Fort.

OLD CITY AND IT RAWNESS.

That morning wroke with full of enthusiasm to explore this city. So wear my observer hat and other clothes too. I walked out of my hotel.

I saw an old lady was preparing her wooden stove for a morning tea. As I paased close to her I could see smoke coming out of her stove which cover her smile and achievment but i still took a shot of her.

Local kids dressed in their school uniforms are continuously appearing and disappearing same time through those alleys. The younger ones are dropped to the school by the parent. After seeing smiles on children i am also transported back in time. When i used to go school and my mother drop to the school bus stop.

GROUNDING

As i took few step to another turn i found myself standing in front of a pack of furious dogs. The moment they saw me come toward them one of the dog just charged toward my i didn't why. May be that didn't like my presence in their territory. I bit surprised because other people also coming and going, it's not too early in the morning. The fate had already planned. Within no time the ran toward me. The one in pack maybe he was the leader came really close to me. I swing my bag to scare them off and took steps back. The moment i turned to put my step foward to opposite direction. I felt something in my calf and by the time i realize anything the dog set his teeths inside. When some of the ongoers saw this happening, they rushed to move away the dog. But the party was over. I could see the red color courtesy of this dog on my leg.

HUNT FOR A DOCTOR

I sensed that its an emergency i had to find a doctor as soon as possible. I knew that i am completely new to this place it going to be a difficult task for me. Someone who witnessed the whole drama, suggested me to apply some red chilly but i decided to ignored that advice. I was in sudden state of shock. I thought in morning i left my hotel as a tourist who want to explore this old city but my whole objective of the day is suddenly changed into a hunt for a doctor at an unknown city. So I searched for a on Google maps, but it wasn't that much helpful. So I asked a grocery store owner. He showed me some sympathy and he ordered one of his worker to escort me to the nearest government hospital. I wasn't able to walk to much distance so the worker hired a rickshaw.

TIME OF EXPLORE THE HOSPITAL

After 10 minute back breaking rickshaw ride. we finally arrived at the hospital. I entered the local government hospital. After few redirects from here and there. I bought a 10 ruppe receipt for treatment. The hospital had a specialized room and doctor for rabies infected patients. This was good thing for me.

Outside every room an A4 size paper note was pasted which request to maintain queue , patience , silence and enter only one person at a time. In a typical Indian fashion, nobody seems to care. There were at least 10-12 person already inside.IMG_20180428_152156.jpg

Inside the room a huge poster pasted which had instructions for what to do/don't after a dog bit. In don't section they mentioned not to apply red chilly at the wound.

I thank my privilege life that I earned just a few years ago from my hard work and blessings of my parents. I could remember how my parents used to wait for long hours get doctors. This hospital environment wasn't alien👽 for me.

NOW IT'S TIME FOR TREATMENT

Now it was my turn, the doctor diagnosed the wound and without any emotions on her face she started writing gibberish on the prescription paper. She asked me to wash the wound with fresh water for about 10-15 minutes. This was the only interaction I had with her maybe she had no sympathy for me or it explains it is the daily thing for her to deal with.

I took prescription from her. I went in search of washroom. What I found was usual filth, stinky place which was not washed for a long. I thought in process of get treated for rabies I probably get infected from handful other diseases. So I went outside bought couple of mineral water bottles and washed my wound.

This time enter the hospital I already prepare for hospital atomphere. I was directed towards the anti radies vaccination room. I was again that unhygienic hospital room. But I was in the prefect care of well trained nurse. In few minutes she injected 3 type to vaccination. One for tetanus, and two for ARV intra-dermal. It was her experienced hand or the smile she was wearing. I didn't feel any pain. She was the only person in the whole hospital I saw smiling.

The cost of complete treatment was 11 rupees ( excluding the mineral water bottles). The 1 rupee for the photocopy of prescription for government medicine shop required for free medicine. The Xerox machine was available inside the hospital complex.

Later on my way back to hotel, I remember those days when my parent used to get treatment through these government hospital but now I could think how much difficult those days was. Still thousands face similar problem daily.
