HOW DO WE SOLVE THE PUZZLE OF THE BIG BROTHER GENERATION WHOSE FUTURE ARE BEING WASTED AWAY?

in #busy6 years ago (edited)

Events happening in Nigeria everyday keep telling us we have the wrong set of people coordinating the affairs of our beloved country.

I woke up today to the news that the Mace was stolen in the hallow Chamber of the Senate while plenary was ongoing and by the time the video of the event became viral, it was seen that the hoodlums responsible for the act neither came with a gun nor any weapon whatsoever. They just came in, breaching all the securities attached to the National Assembly complex, walked in on the plenary, took the mace and left while the 109 Senators on wages of 14 million naira per month (~US$40, 000/month), arguably the most expensive in the world were just looking, one was even captured on TV sitting unconcerned why the fracas went on.

As if this was not enough for a day, President Buhari in faraway Westminster, England while addressing the Commonwealth was quoted to made this statement

"More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free"

And that was not the first disparaging statement from the president towards his citizenry, a quick search on Google will reveal more.

But then one wonders how a nation with the largest proportion of her population being youth ended up with these people at the helm of affairs. Then you remember that while this was ongoing, these youths whom future are being mortgaged, the people whom the power lies with on who next will direct the affairs of their nation are currently busy with the Big Brother Naija TV show that cannot even be done in Nigeria but in South Africa! (that in itself is ironic, ain’t it?)

My brother @samstickkz was quite angry about this some few days ago he posted this on his facebook page

It is quite annoying when you know that your compatriots whom according to statistics hold the power to controlling this nation, despite the current travails yet seem unconcerned, unaware and uninterested!

I mean 61% of eligible voters in Nigeria are youths (and by this I am not talking about 60 years old “youth leader”, not that type of youth). The actual youth between the ages of 18-35 years.

Comparing this with the statistics of last election where President Buhari only had 15 million plus votes to be declared winner, it shows that if the youths of this country really decided and try to focus on what really matter to their future, if they actually decide to vote in the 2019 GENERAL ELECTIONS (and not only the presidential election, those rogues in the legislative houses at the national and states level need to be shown the the way out too!) like they do vote Lolu, Cee-C, and co, maybe we will be talking of making an head way!

I know many of my compatriots will have a lot of IFs, but like @ogoowinner said in her post, from which I will quote and paraphrase,

If you were.... If you were.....

Oh no! Now that you are not.... What do you do?
You can start from where you are because you are the president of where you are right now!

Take that anger within you to the polls in 10 months’ time and do the necessary!!!
Vote out these rogues!!! Take back your country!!!
No nation on earth will give us all visas!!
