Business on Steemit

I noticed recently that more businesses have joined Steemit and they are promoting their brand with blog posts. One business in particular is @bookingteam.com since quite a few of their posts are trending I have taken notice. Businesses joining Steemit helps to keep the value of Steem high with a nice influx of money into steem power. If you look at the account of @bookingteam.com you see they have 9,203.410 steem power which is a decent amount of steem power and helps to support Steemit by holding. This account was created in November of 2016 so it has been around for quite some time.

If you look at the account of @hendrikdegrote you see that this account has 1,552,111.319 steem power at the time I wrote this. I am sure that number has increased by quite a bit from interest since my screenshot. This account was created on September 2016 and has a major influence on some of the business related posts on Steemit. I also noticed that @hendrikdegrote seems to resteem and upvote most of the posts from @bookingteam.com which is perfectly fine. This account also resteems and upvotes many of the trending posts on Steemit. You can get a glimpse into the intentions of this account from the introduction post https://steemit.com/introduction/@hendrikdegrote/i-wanna-salute-my-fellow-steemians You can tell that the account has invested quite a bit into Steemit and would like to see it blossom.

I am interested in knowing how you feel about businesses on Steemit and if its something that you think is good for the community? Do you think Steemit should create a mechanism for accounts to join as a business or should those accounts be the same as everyone else?

Sort:

promoting businesses on steemit is a very nice idea, if we have many other business account, steem will blow up high.

I agree, I think the community will welcome business with wide arms if it is done with the right finesse.

The key is like what you said...if its done right!

I think it would be a great idea for steemit to create a sort of "business account" in order to differentiate from the regular users. For example, Facebook uses the business page function that is totally different from peoples accounts but you can post and do things while logged in to your personal account.

Good thing to start thinking about!

That is a good thought, it would make it much easier to determine how the account is being used.

thx for this post. that gives some insights I didn't knew.

Not a problem, its just interesting to see how people use Steemit

Difficult question. I would love to see Some Good initives. But i dont want all businesses to be here And that we have the same sh.. as fb

The more the user base grows the more likely we will start to see business follow. I think we will find a comfortable solution that will work for everyone eventually.

I hope so. I don't hope each company eventually will bring the same as now on fb..to much overkill

Its good they do, together we let steem grow. If they upvote it is even better :-) They have enough to spent !!

Sure, its always nice when people upvote a post especially if they leave a comment on that post.

While I don't see a disqualifying hurdle in principle for Steemit Business Accounts (SBA) these are my caveats: (1) overtly commercial posts are soul destroying (that's why BAT crypto has skyrocketed); (2) if the personal post/commercial post equilibrium is skewed no one will want to read much n Steemit.
What is the right balance ? 75% personal to 25% commercial. Who makes the decisions and who determines what is a commercial business post?t
If Steemit is going to add Business Posts then what about non profits too?
Another possible problem is the rise of spam affiliate links by SBA accounts. These links would take readers off Steemit pages raising the probability of the FB squeeze to keep readers on the platform.
Another concern is SBAs buying into Whale Steemit Status. Could there be a business tax system set up that redistributed Steem to personal posters?
Sorry, I don't understand the Steemit monetization system so I can't be more specific.

These are all very valid points, we need to find a comfortable balance that enhances the experience for both the everyday user along with business related accounts.

I think it's a great idea more traffic on steemit is a good thing

I agree, as long as it is done the right way I think it will have a very positive impact on Steemit.

You are welcome, glad you found it interesting.
