Proposal for website based on Steem
Hello Steemians, I'm very delighted to introduce to you my proposal for a website based on Steem to engage young audience and promote Steemit to them.
Introduction
I'm @arcrypto and I'm a social entrepreneur. Before shifting my focus to blockchain and cryptocurrencies, I have been actively involved in community service and business by working with various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and early-stage startups. About two weeks ago, I have come across a post (https://steemit.com/budget/@jerrybanfield/introducing-steem-budget-proposals) by @jerrybanfield , a wonderful witness and a contributor on Steemit. One thing that struck to my mind as soon as I read the post was the Social Enterprise idea I was working on.
Opportunities Knock Your Door
My social enterprise's name is Opportunities Knock Your Door and our mission is :
To bring out every opportunity available in the world and encourage people to embrace sustainable living.
We had successfully run a pilot project in mid-2017 where we attracted over 700 social entrepreneurs from precisely 131 countries to work with us. We impacted 5000+ people across the globe through our pilot project and presently we are working to refine our business model based on the inputs from the project.

The proposal
Our core team consists of 7 members from 4 different continents, we chose to be diverse since diversity has its own beauty and strength. We would like to run our website based on Steem for which we need to redesign it and also we planned an event which will be powered by Steemit to promote the website.
Our target audience : University students (Ages 18 - 21) and early-career working professionals (Ages 22-35)
Expected reach-out by end of June, 2018 : 5 hundred thousand
Expected conversion rate to Steemit users : 30-35%
Why start a website on opportunities based on social business model & How Steemit is going to benefit from it?
Based on "The Deloitte Millennial Survey 2017" (https://www2.deloitte.com/global/en/pages/about-deloitte/articles/millennialsurvey.html) , every seven in ten employees believe in making an impact irrespective of their pay which means they are interested in social activities. All millennials have strong information technology skills and the ability to think creatively which means it is easy for us to convert these target audience to Steemit users since they believe in technology. The world is a home to approximately 1 billion young people (differs in various sources) and our target is less than .1% of it which can be achieved by implementing proper business and marketing strategies.
Budget required : 1111 SBD
All figures below are in SBD, assuming 1 SBD = 10 USD
- Initial budget for website redesign and team building : 120 SBD
- Alpha and beta stage : 220 SBD
- Reachout program through social media channels : 160 SBD
- Promotional event : 500 SBD
- Team management, developer team, miscellaneous charges for hosting, upgrading, etc : 111 SBD
The figures mentioned are just an estimation, the actual budget may or may not differ from the above.

Final Words
Hitting 5 hundred thousand with a budget of 1111 SBD might look very ambitious but it is very much achievable. I'll be more than happy to share more insights which will back my proposal. Though the budget looks high (to be honest, it is equal to what a single high quality post by a whale receives on Steemit), we are reaching out to approximately 450 target audience and retaining a minimum of 135 users for every SBD spent. I'm looking forward for the support from Steemit community and @jerrybanfield

What needs to be done with website and team building? On upwork a freelancer can build a website for maybe a few hundred USD and I am unsure what "team building" includes?
Hi @jerrybanfield , thank you for your reply. It's a great start to new year, I'm happy to see your comment.
Previously during our pilot project, we built a team of 600 volunteers/ambassadors who promoted the website in their respective countries which is what I want to do again so as to reach-out to more people in-person and pitch the idea of Steemit. All these ambassadors would be recommended to use Steemit and will be given 0.5-1 SBD as an appreciation for participating in the program.
The website would be done in a few hundred dollars as you said but the major chunk of the budget would be for used for the above mentioned purpose.
