Things that you should know before visit Brazil
1- The Gas Stations Make Zero Sense Whatsoever
Brazil has a weird law where cars have to be able to run off of a certain type of ethanol made from sugar. This isn't for environmental benefits, it's to support the sugar industry in Brazil -- one of their main legal exports.
Because this industry is about as crooked as the rest of the country, gas prices are a complete dice throw.
2- Your Taxi Ride May Be Your Last
Taxicab kidnappings and hostage attempts are more common than you'd think in Brazil. If you'd rather not spend what's left of your life bound and gagged before being dumped in the rainforest, stay home.
3- The Girls that you will never forget
You can ask around, there isn’t any man alive that doesn’t love a Brazilian girl. Sometimes we just can’t stop dreaming about them, sorry ladies you can’t blame us. I know most guys will agree with this and i know some ladies would be like “there they go again". But have a part that i hate in most of girls here in brazil, they finish school and pass all the whole year going to gym and nightclubs, they dont want work or do other things, if one of then look to you more than 10 secs be careful... they are analyzing if you have 6 digits in the bank account or still living with parents (saved if you are son of any politic lol).
4- People in brazil are still living in they 5 years old life
Some days ago a genius from government got a great idea to install a phone blocker in prisons, so the the criminal faction decided put terror in the city and set fire to buses, cars, bridges, and all they see fit. The police here dont give a single fuck about what is going on because the only thing that matters at the moment are the olympics and safety of athletes, so if you are coming from other country enjoy you will get the best security ( while the last olympics). But when students want to protest for our rights they throw tear gas, rubber bullet, tasers, all the shit they want to everyone stfu. Yea brazil is on a constant caos 24/7, i love this country (oh the irony lmao).
5- People in brazil love uber
If you are really interested to use uber here then you should be careful, taxi drivers are 24/7 looking if someone is with a phone using uber app. if they see it my friend then its better you and the uber guy run like forest, they will hunt you for the rest of your lives and i'm not even kidding (sometimes the opposite happens, but is quite rare ).
6- Corruption is out in the Open
Police and politicians make no secret that they are extremely corrupt, even accepting bribes in broad daylight! While most, if not all, governments are corrupt, few are as brazen about it as Brazil. If you want make some war before pick up your flight to home go to the street and yell loudly "Lula and Dilma motherfuckers, tudo acaba em feijoada" ppl will go crazy, serious.
Well that's it. Have more things and i will edit it later when i have time, now i need drive to my university without taking a shot from some angry criminal gang.
Hi, thanks for your great post. Thankfully we found the cabs in both Rio and Sao Paulo to be great during our time in Brazil. The thing which absolutely did my head in was the banks. ATM's would work one day then not the next, and I'm not talking about out of order broken. I mean put your card in, go thru the entire process and then have it error or cancel. Credit cards were all but useless, and were unable to be used to book anything online, and nobody wants to carry much cash for safety reasons. We often we found ourselves down to our last pennies and rejected by multiple ATM's wondering what we were going to do...then as if by magic, an ATM would work...Perhaps you can tell me if this is common or just our bad luck. Having said all the we LOVE Brazil and can't wait to go back !!!
Hi, sorry for the late reply.. Smart decision, never carry more than $50 on your pocket the bandits are always looking to stole someone. I never used a ATM yet but i think you mean the 24hours bank that u can put Your international Card right ? Mhmmm, as you know this country is a bit fucked up and most of banks arent always working after 9-10 PM and sometimes dont works on saturday (dont ask me why). My suggestion is to withdraw all the money that you want in airports and hide it on Your hotel, then just use the necessary know ? Hope you understand what i'm trying say, my english its a bit weak :)
