Few questions people ask me pretty often:
- Where does the money come from?
- What is stopping people from making money from other people's work
- Intentional (plagiarism)
- Unintentional (posting your favorite artist's music and making money on the post)
- If it's so great, why don't more people use it?
- Why is the website crap? (lol)
- How do I take my money out?
btw I have never told someone about steem and they asked about the technology. Similarly, I have never heard anybody care about how Facebook or Youtube works from a technical standpoint, they care about how to use. I would argue that the first question "What's the difference between a blockchain and a cryptocurrency" is not important to the majority of people we are trying to market steem(it) to.
By that same logic, I don't think anybody cares about the difference between which database Facebook uses to store its content and the API that is used to get that data. It's just so irrelevant to the usage of Facebook.
Abstraction - a process of hiding details of implementation in programs and dataThis makes sense from the comparison of Facebook... or even the internet. (We don't ask why and what tech provides infrastructure for the web). But because a "currency" is involved with Steemit.com, everyone seems to ask us... what technology makes this possible? Which leads into blockchain. That's just our experience :)
Ultimately (ideally) we should all stop using the word blockchain. Hopefully some day soon, we'll get there.
