This week sees the return of the newly crowned WBA lightweight world champion, Vasiliy Lomenchenko, as he makes his first defence of his newly acquired title since beating the former champion,Jorge Linares, in a thrilling hard fought battle that could have potentially turned into a nightmare for the rising superstar, but a beautifully placed body shot put an end to proceedings in the 10th round.
Jose Pedraza is a two weight world champion who's only loss comes at the hands of the highly touted and talented, undefeated Gevante Davis via a 7th round TKO. Pedraza has put a string of victories together since that loss, including a points win over Ray Beltran in which he claimed the WBO lightweight world title.
This unification bout could solidify the winners legacy. On one hand it will further add to the ever growing myth and legend, that is the career, of the record breaking Vasiliy Lomachenko, and on the other hand, it could thrust Jose Pedraza into the spot light making him a household name and a possible future box office draw.
