Boulders In Central park
Boulders In Central Park
This is a post for Boulder Sunday hosted by @shasta,
Before @shasta started this challenge I have to admit I had not really been noticed boulders and even once said to him I had not seen many of them in the places I go but since then I have noticed there are many of them around and have done a few Boulder Sunday posts and this week I will share some boulders I came across walking around Central Park.
This first one is in the Pond and Gapstow bridge, as I have said many times my Favorite area of the park, always amazes me when I see plants growing on boulders like this, sure the plants look pretty dry when I took this but soon with the warmer weather and rain I am sure the plant will be thriving again

And here are some more, there are many around Centrla park and all kinds of shapes and sizes, like the small one in the pond and these bigger ones.

Beautiful Boulder photos! That park is so amazing!
It truly is an amazing park I walked through it again this morning was to nice to rush to the office 😂
Wow!I never think of NY with large boulders. These are great JJ and you captured the light beautifully.
Thanks I was lucky with beautiful light that morning and there are even bigger ones in the park I came across some more this morning
You found some fantastic boulders @tattoodjay! :-)
Love your photography of these giant stones, the one
with plants on it is so beautiful! The other ones look
really huge! They have seen many glaciers giving some
a ride while scratching grooves into the bedrock.
Awesome to see your wonderful photos of these
geological beauties!
Happy boulder day 2U!
Thanks I remember telling you we didnt have many here and since then I have come across so many of them :)
Remnants and left over from glacial flow, I think. Although there are some fault lines running through NYC.
Yes thats most likely the case ;)
New Zealand has big fault lines passing under it as well so there are places with large boulder,s geothermal areas etc etc, and of course lots of Earthquakes down there
The Pacific Rim of Fire, I think they call it.
yes thats right well almost we call it the Ring of Fire as it almost makes a circle around the world and passes right over New Zealand
We live on its edge as well on the other side.
I think its one of the longest series of fault lines around if I remember rightly
Great reflections. Your the steemit eye on central park !

With the nice weather we had a couple of days I took the opportunity to do a couple of visits there I do have one more spot I want to visit, hopefully it will be this week :)
Any idea if those were hauled in or if they were just there and they left them? There is a big rock that I took a picture a while ago from an island in Michigan. It is just so out of place. They hold it in high regard there.

I know most of Central Park was manmade so they may have been hauled in, or maybe they were there and the park was designed around them I did some searching now but could not find out which case it is
I remember being told about a Huge boulder somewhere in Michigan I forget the name but I see to remember that when there is flooding the boulder is like an Island in the lake on an Island in a lake or something like that
They say NYC has everything and I believe it now...even boulders. As always nice photos with the green and blue hue that I like.
Ohh yes indeed, I think it does have a little bit of everything, well for some things a lot of, some a little
I hope your weekend went well and have a good week ahead
I feel like a know the place from the first shot. Really great photographs, perfect for the theme!
Thanks so much for such kind words they are truly appreciated
