Jack Williamson (1908-2006) was an American science fiction writer. He was fairly prolific, penning over two dozen novels and countless short stories, and he's seen as one of the grandfathers of the Golden Age of Science Fiction. He was even dubbed "The Dean of Science Fiction" after Robert Heinlein's death in 1988.
The Legion of Time, published in 1952, is a collection of two Williamson novels – The Legion of Time and After World's End. Despite the title, the book has nothing to do with Williamson's most famous work, The Legion of Space. In fact, the title may have been a way to capitalize on the previous work's success. In any case, The Legion of Time was well-received, with critics praising it for its "fine swashbuckling and much ingenious speculation." It was even for a Retro Hugo Award in 2014.
