Undisputed: How to Become the World Champion in 1,372 Easy Steps

in #books5 years ago

Wrestling fans listen up! The people involved in this sport are definitely not just muscular bruisers with no brains (I am sure there are some of those out there too.) Some of them are actually extremely intelligent and talented in many other ways. One of the people I believe to be an extreme case in point is Chris Jericho and this is proven in one of his 4 published books, Undisputed.

In this extremely easy to read page-turner Chirs tells us a few secrets about this industry and especially how it can be extremely difficult to move up in the ranks. I am sure this is not really very surprising to anyone as the industry is extremely competitive. Jericho's talent both in the ring and on the mic is undeniable, however early in his career, particularly at WCW he was intentionally stifled in the locker-room because more established talents (read the book to find out who, you might be surprised) didn't want to put him "over."

Something that i hadn't been expecting (and honestly didn't know about) is that a great deal of this book focuses on a band that he had called Fozzy, where he toured and insisted to all the fans that while he does look a great deal like the guy, he is NOT Chris Jericho.

Although by comparison his life is not anywhere near as dysfunctional as say Lex Luger, Chris Benoit, or even Ric Flair, he delves into the dark side of the business as well. I don't know if he is just trying to make himself look like one of the good guys, but he ends up looking like one of the good guys.

He even takes the time to laugh at his appearance back at the start and I think any of us around his age can relate. Don't believe me? Go look at some photos of yourself in the early-to-mid 90's.... check how awesome you look.

I think one of my favorite stories in the book is one of how he got a DWI (driving while intoxicated) purely because of pressure put on him by fans and since he is a crowd pleaser he agreed to have one shot of tequila before leaving an event. This one shot, combined with the one beer he had, put him over the legal driving limit and the police officer who pulled him over (for something unrelated) didn't give a damn that he was one of the biggest WWE superstars in the world at the time.

source a bit more "grown-up" look

I have read a lot of wrestler's biographical books and I think that this is one of the ones that is the best. Chris (whose real surname is Irvine) is certainly a multi-talented dude and there was no point during the reading of this book that I was anything other than completely entertained. He has 3 other books and I am excited about buying them in the not-too-distant future. I think it should come as no surprise that his books are available pretty much everywhere online but I actually found it at my local library while in the USA. If you live in N.A. you really ought to have a look there first .

For wrestling fans, even if you don't really enjoy reading (and some would argue that a LOT of wrestling fans do not enjoy reading) this is just so entertaining and informative that you won't want to stop. Highly recommended.

i became a much bigger fan after he was no longer wrestling, unfortunately.

Chris jericho .... of the ancient wrestlers. I am a fan of this wrestler but unfortunately for the time being. It has become of no value unlike the past

I have no idea what you mean but thanks for contributing anyway! :)
