Tesseract Technology and Captain Elizabeth Carnegie, PhD
Brief delivered by Commander George Carnegie, PhD
It has been roughly two weeks that Captain Elizabeth Carnegie went missing. The fleet investigative team’s findings were inconclusive. The only sentences, in their report, that are of any use to the Daedalus’ goal of finding our lost captain are:
“When the containment field collapsed, the black whole and Captain Carnegie went missing. There was no damage to the room where the black hole was being contained.”
They said “no damage.” Where does a black hole go without causing massive damage? It should have, at the minimum, taken that entire section of the building before we could have contained it again. Where did it and the captain go? I believe the correct question is -- who contained it? The answer: Captain Elizabeth Carnegie, from 15 years into our future.
At a very young age, Carnegie began working on her theories to replace our current FTL technology, with her own tesseract engine. She has not released any of her work to the scientific community as of this date.
Captain Carnegie stated her theories would be in workable form and ready to build a prototype engine, within 15 years. After reviewing her work, I disagree. She was much closer and began to slow to a crawl due to some of the possible outcomes when using her tech.
We have always lived in a society where time travel is still something only experienced via reading a good book or visiting a recdec. Carnegie’s research shows not only is time travel possible, but easier than we, as a scientific community, realized. She was concerned with how her tech could be used to alter the outcome of many important events that have allowed us to build this cooperative, successful Federated Systems.
However, her research can also usher in a new level of prosperity for The Fed. Replacing the entire navy’s ships FTL engines, with Carnegie’s engines, would open up the whole universe for exploration.
In conclusion, I am certain that using Captain Carnegie’s research, a rescue mission is feasible.

I wish you could have seen the look on your brother’s face. I spent the next two hours fielding questions and keeping track of the important ones that spoke to the direction that this find-Captain-Carnegie mission needs to move in.
He had a million questions that I was not ready to elaborate on. I cannot express how your research is beyond what I thought you were working on. Please come home and continue to amaze me.
