10 Reasons Bodybuilders Are Bigger Than Powerlifters

Here's what you need to know...
The most jacked powerlifters aren't nearly as jacked as most bodybuilders. As muscular as they may be, they don't achieve the same hypertrophy.
Neither drugs nor genetics can account for why bodybuilders are more jacked than powerlifters. It's training that sets their bodies apart.
Higher rep ranges, mind-muscle connection, isolation training, and other intensification methods increase gains more than lifting to increase your one-rep max.
It's possible to increase strength and size simultaneously, but if you're trying to look like a bodybuilder, don't sacrifice training intensity and obsess too much over your powerlifting totals.
The Powerlifter Look
We all know that there are some freaky looking powerlifters. That said, generally, powerlifters aren't as muscular as bodybuilders. Name your favorite jacked powerlifter and we'll show you a bodybuilder who dwarfs him in terms of muscularity.

Granted, many powerlifters carry too much body fat to accurately assess their level of muscularity. For example, here are pictures of Donnie Thompson, Ryan Kennelly, and Benedikt Magnusson. In 2011, these guys were the owners of the world's strongest squat and powerlifting total, strongest bench press, and strongest deadlift, respectively.
