Exploring the Synergy between Digital and Analogue Art: The Art Of The Anonymous BlogsteemCreated with Sketch.

Another thought process resulting in a bunch of words on my computer. I guess I'm becoming a blogger. :)

Blogging is an art form but it also is therapeutic. You're probably used to reading blogs online to get information or learn new things. You may even read up on blogs of companies you are thinking about hiring. It’s a great way to get into the mind of the company you're working with. If you want to know who you are really working with, read their blog.

There is a deeper blog purpose though. For artists, it is a way of letting the world know how you really feel. It isn’t always easy to talk about feelings. Not everyone is a great public speaker and not everyone wants to be! They would rather share their thoughts and ideas quietly. The blog is perfect for that.

As you get into blogging, you’ll find that it is your online diary. You know the kind you hear about teenage girls having decades ago. They rushed to their “dear diary” to write down the things that happened that day—boys, hobbies, friends, school…whatever the topic of the day, girls had to get them memorialized on paper.

Nowadays that paper has morphed into the computer screen and the pen is your keyboard. The concept is the same though. Whatever is important to you can be memorialized. The great thing about having a blog though is that you can look back and see what your thoughts were a week ago, a month ago, a few years ago. It’s all organized carefully for you to retrieve whenever you want.

Blogs also feed creative juices. Let’s say you're looking to start fresh. You don’t want to keep your former online persona. Your goal is to bring something completely new to the table because of your new ideas. This is where a new blog can play perfectly to this. With a new blog, you are meeting new people who will be your readers. You can rebuild your reputation as an artist in whatever genre you want—without a longstanding history, without prejudice and without limitations. The sky is the limit in terms of who you want to become.

The creativity of blogs is what draws people in and what keeps them loyally posting time and time again. They will spend their days anticipating what great works they are going to be sharing with their viewers in the public forum. Creating a new persona can also call for anonymity. You won’t have to identify yourself—in fact it can be limiting if you do! Rather, take the opportunity of starting a new blog as a way to reintroduce yourself to the world in a completely different light. Let your creative works do the talking for you. Whether you're a painter, a writer, a dancer or any type of artist imaginable, let your true creative self-shine for the world to see!

More to follow soon.

Sort:

I think of a blog as a digital representation of my physical self. It's why I prefer not being anonymous. I think, in some ways, anonymity can lead to bad results because people are not held accountable to their ugly actions. When reputation can be created and destroyed easily, it has no value.

That said, I do appreciate the ability it gives people to start fresh and avoid prying eyes from pressures which might otherwise cause them to self-censor. So yeah, it's a nuanced topic for sure.

True, for people without ugly intentions it can be liberating though. Good thing that it's still possible, in these times.
